I played Squad leader in college and lived it I always wished someone would come out with a similar version that used miniatures.

BAM! there it is, well kind of…

To the contested skies question, alot of the ground units have abilities against air units or abilities that enhance your air units, so thats why there are a lot of tanks and soldiers in the Contested Skies set.

I love how the Zero looks!!  Thats the way they should have made it for AAM.  :wink:

I beat an army very similar to this except that there was no Grizzled Vet and the other guy had a sniper…and the builds were slightly larger.
Go w/ what Der Lieter said and avoid vehicles. My build was an all airbore one…British.
Try this:
Defiant Paratrooper x 10 = 80 pts
Inspiring Hero x 1 = 9 pts
Veteran SMLE Riflemen x 2 = 10 pts (remember these guys have steely resolve)
Total = 99 pts

Paras and Aussies should be able to toast the few infantry there. Protect the hero so that he can give you speed to trap and kill the tank. You should be able to keep it at least disrupted once you trap it.

Please. No more French tanks.

Give us Machine Guns, Artillery, Maginot line - obstacles, but PLEASE no more rare tanks!

I like the Puma too, but it’s a little overpriced.

The Hetzer actually seems to have a good price; it’s not paying the standard extra points for being German like the Panzer IV G had to.

Over in the Rules Discussion of the Avalon Hill message boards, there’s that project called the “Historical House Rules [HHR]”, and it’s an attept to make the rule-cards more realistic and balanced for quite a few units (others were left alone). Has anyone tried using these? We gave them a spin the other night and they seem alot more realistic and had their actual historical capaicity on the battlefield. My only gripe is that the cards are in the A&AM colors, which means they’ll kill your printer if you want to print 'em up.

With Set II coming out you’ll be able to field and effective Soviet team and Japanese team. There are a couple of new Japanese tanks that are pretty good.

You might even be able to put together a Chinese team but you might have to amek a house rule that allows more than 15 units per team or play 80 pts. or something. Those 2pt soldiers don’t really fill out the points very well.
