Ok, I have seen that one, but it’s been a while. Near the time I stopped watching the new episodes.

UK and Israel took the win

aside from “panty vending machines” - i havn’t noticed any defenses for Israel or UK as “closest to the US”. I guess the answers came depending on how one read the question . . . .

lol, probably alot of voting by people that haven’t been to any of the places on the list.

I would think UK would be #1, for very obvious reasons. I’d think Israel would be maybe #3 behind Canada, if not 4 or 5.
But then again, what do I know?

you mean because of the Iraq war thing?
-
Well…I guess you could say that. Our closest ally or whatever (even though that would/would have been France). Many ideas came from, we battled it out, made up…etc.,etc.
The stance on the Iraq war just kinda mirrors that old relationship.

lol, I read the question completely diferent than most here I guess, I interpreted it to mean the most alike in life style or attitude. In that way obviously its canada and australia.
I supose if you mean political allainces it would be somewhat different, but aren’t are members of NATO equal? ;)

I don’t know how the UK is beating Canada.
You know what they say good oceans make good Neighbors.

I would think the real order would be:
Canada
Israel
Australia
Philippines
U.K.
Japan
South Korea -
I have to say that the US and Australia probably have more in common than anyone else.
Both are formed from British exiles and prisoners. Both gained independence from Britain. Both have a solid core of English heritage citizens, with a dose of other nations added later (though USA is ahead on that front) with a significant native population. Both have had the fiercely independent mind set, and the “screw the rest of you, we’ll show you how its done” mentality.
The only real difference is that the Aussies are about 100 years behind the US, owing to their later independence from UK. And as a result, the Aussies have an outlook on life and politics more akin to what the US had in 1908 rather than our current 2008. Let us hope that their fierce independence is more enduring than ours…

Australia is a monarchy and USA is a republic. A big difference. One of the good things you USA-americans have is the power of choosing your own chief of state, something we Spanish and they, Australians, don’t have. Australia is even worst, because their chief of state is queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom (a non-Australian).
Just I cannot imagine USA having as chief of state the queen of England :-o

Mmmm Funions…
OK, she is not hot anymore, but I think Funions may be a bit too harsh of a description for Queen Elizabeth’s face even now.
But then again, a bag of Funions is pretty lumpy, ropey and twisted…

Yeah just about… And hey, I got some negative feedback for that…
