Can you add the Italian Maiale submarines and the British Long Range Desert Group LRDG to the game? I originally proposed a World War II game with Maiale submarines from the Decima MAS flotilla with my hand-drawn map of World War II, but since I found out about Doug Friend’s map, I decided to add my ideas to it. I would like to see the Special Air Service (SAS) in the game, too. I think that Italy should have the Maiale submarines and have a bonus point against any Allied surface warships in the Mediterranean. The Maiale submarines will only be allowed to operate in the Mediterranean and they will have bonus points and warships will not get to roll against them. It will sort of be like the Italian equivalent of the Japanese kamikaze tokens. The Italian player will of course be limited as to how many Maiale submarines that they will get to roll per turn. The Maiale will be any Italian submarine and the infantry aboard the submarine will attack the Allied surface warship in the Med.
I am not sure how to even make it work within the game. I was proposing a game with Maiale submarines against any ANZAC, French or British surface warships in the Mediterranean.
I also propose adding the Ariete Division for Italian elite units and the Folgore Parachute Division as Italian elite units. The Italians also had volunteers from India and the Middle East in their armies. I have a book on Italian elite units of World War II from 1940-1943.
Italy not only had Bersaglieri, they also had the Ariete Division and the Folgore Division. You could add paratroopers to the Italian player.
You could also add torpedo bombers to the Italians. The Italians used the Savoia Marchetti SM. 79 as a torpedo bomber in the Mediterranean. You could also add torpedo bombers to the Germany, United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union. Japan and the United States weren’t the only nations to have torpedo bombers.
I have another suggestion.
You could also add a Bearn class aircraft carrier to France. France’s only aircraft carrier in World War II was the Bearn class aircraft carrier.
The Bearn was out in the Atlantic when France surrendered in 1940. You could add torpedo bombers to the Soviet Union, too. The Soviet Union had torpedo bombers in the Baltic and Black Seas.
You could also add a plastic P-40 painted in China’s paint color to simulate the Flying Tigers. There is so much that you could add there.

where did you get all of those units?
-
Gameplay was fairly smooth and balanced. USA went with a KJF strat but Japan was still able to get to Moscow but not in great strenght. russia stalled germany for the majority of the game but if USA had went to europe germany may have fallen for good earlier. leaving japan in russia faster and stronger but alone.

Thanks for the links to the game pieces. A +1 to you.
-
the pics from the game is awesome. my buddies and are going to test the game today. are you still working on a 1939 version?
what programm did you use to create the map?
i can’t wait to play this!
are you all from the states? -
Great pics!
I have played this map many times and it always sets up for a great game. Recently, I have used the Minor Axis & Allied Powers rules to further enhance the experience. Again, this map is perfect for this rules extension.

Hello all
I am going to try and set up another game in late Nov. or early Dec. Hit me up if you are interested.
-
Where is the game going to be played?
-
Did anyone try the Abattlemap module I made for Axis & Allies Global War? You can use it to play anyone with a dice server.
-
@Brain:
Where is the game going to be played?
Wisconsin
-
Wisconsin? You’re name should be Cheese Head, not Deaths Head. Just kidding. :-D
I would love to play, but I am a long ways away.
I would love though to see pictures of the game after each turn with some commentary.
-
I get to involved in the game and forget to take notes, to post with the pics. I will try harder next time
-
That would be great.
-
Let me know with enough time so I can arange to be off that day. I would love to play it again.
-
I will,
Did you convert the map to AAA yet?
-
Not yet. My home PC died on me shortly after our game and have been without a computer for almost two months now. I am getting a replacement here in the begining of December and will be back to working on maps.

Greetings.
I’ve read through this thread and came to the conclusion that I’d like to get a print out of this board.
What is the recommended printing size for someone who intends to use standard AA size figures? Axis & Allies Miniatures look a bit too… well I just don’t like the idea of using them, and I have so many copies of various AA board games editions that there’s more than enough plastic to fill this map.
What would be a good recommended PRACTICAL printing size?
Thanks,
Starke.PS - What is the most current and up to date version of this map, and where can I obtain it? Is there a PDF version?
-
ONE MORE QUESTION:
I’ve been browsing through this thread, and I want a quick clarification: Are the setups listed on the first post the ones I should use? There seems to be an awful lot of “don’t put Factory on Hawaii” or “Where are the setups?”.
Is there a clear and concise list of the setups that I can just print off and start having a mess around with?
-
bump… anyone there?
-
Hey whats up.
ok if you want to use the Standard AA pieces, which also the size used in play testing is
15 sq ft. 62-68 inches in length and roughly 34-36 tall. I am not sure of the exact size.the file posted on the first thread is the most up to date map available and i believe is already the size used with the standard AA Pieces. This is the Practical size.
The set up charts do have a few oops I forgots, but they are mentioned in notes.
The Neutral chart you can use, just x2 the units the the territory from chart.
No their is no perfect setups. All the Actual units on the map for each country are correct. the only ones that have changed are IC’s. And I believe each is listed if any change was needed.
I have both sizes and I recommend plexiglass for an overlay. will protect your map. when stored roll the printed side in.
My friend actually does the graphical changes to the charts because I lack the proper programs to do it.
