Additionally, if you download the scenarios that you’ll find at www.axisandallies.com, they’ll actually list suggested units for you.  It makes quick, pick-up games much easier to get started.

I’m looking forward to the consolidated rules book.  I assume it has all the errata which will make it easier to play without searching out the newest bits.

Although I most often build my own maps, I’m a lover of maps and am looking forward to these new ones.

No mention of more for the miniature navy this year though.

Yes, like most of the other hype (yeah I’m talking to you, Rhino) it’s turned out to be not all that bad. It’s a threat for sure, but counterable.

Yes, you are right about the planes being rares. I looked at the previews on the Avalon Hill site again and it seems I mistook the rare symbol for the uncommon symbol. Which is is something very easy to do, given that it is so small.

AAR for the 1939 100pt force
After all the replies I got I decided to switch and go with a mixed anglo-french force :-(

1 Spitfire
1 Char B
1 Souma
1 Bofor
1 royal engineer
1 observer
1 bren gunner
1 french officer
2 Mas rifle men
1 Liebel Grenadier
1 tank obstical

it was a small turnout (something about a soccer game)
4 armies showed up
2 German (built around the Pzgf IV elites)
My sons French army (1 Char B, 1 Souma, 2 Renaults, 2 Bofor’s and misc. French inf.)
And mine
After the dust settled my son came in 1’st (winning all 3 games), the Germans came in 2’nd and 3’rd and my force came in last (being defeated by all 3 armies)

Next time its 1940 and 100 pts

Why not buy singles jester?

I probably should have been  a little more clear: I really want 6 AB, but also don’t have enough Chinese, Romanians, Japanese, or Polish and thus still buy set 2 over set 1.  :-D  Plus I can’t buy singles online. I don’t have a credit card. Blegh.

The Polish Calvalryman is a nice touch to the game.  Thay will be easy to use in groups of 3 or 4 against soldiers.  Im thinking the best way to use them will be to hide and rush machine gun nests.

Not just machine gun nests but also for going after BAR Gunners, anti-tank guns, and commanders. But I really don’t think you need more than 1 or 2 to accomplish this. It is very easy for the cavalry out of line of sight.
