@Cmdr:
Global warming is so debunked that the majority of free scientists don’t support it anymore. At least MAN MADE global warming.
This year was just icing on the cake. Record snows all over the globe. Record ice growth in Antartica. Reports that polar bear populations are at record highs in their entire history. Snow in parts of the globe that almost NEVER get snow. And, to top it off, the planetary temperature cooled by almost a whole degree centigrade (which is in excess of the 0.4 degree of rise that worried Al Gore.)
Really? I suppose that the countries of the world have completely abandoned their efforts to cut carbon emmissions because the majority of free scientists(as opposed to enslaved scientists?) don’t support global warming? The Commander has spoken. It is so. :roll:
Neither you nor I are meteorological scientists and we can both cite numerous examples of propaganda with regard to “man made or not man made” global warming but we do have global temperature data which is, of course, unbiased. http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/ Simply data. Unless you can prove that NASA is the last desperate bastion of your so called “eco-terrorists” then I will assume that we all agree that the data is unbiased. And you can interpret that data however you wish.
I have chosen to interpret that data as the planet getting hotter because, well, it is( you will note that the global annual mean surface air temperatures fluctuate yet the TREND is that the planet is heating up).
You have chosen to interpret that data as despite 2007 being the 3rd hottest year on record AND despite it being hotter than the year before, because the last 2 months have been unusually cool the planet is obviously getting colder. When attempting to debunk a scientific claim it is important to use the smallest sample size to back your claims and 2 months out of 1 year is about as small as you can get.
Also, your claim that the planetary temperature has dropped by an entire degree makes no sense seeing as how the global annual mean temperatures for the period from 1880 to 2008 have grown by slightly less that 1 degree centigrade. The only thing I can think of is that you are saying the monthly temperature for January 2008 is 1 degree lower than the monthly temperature for January 2007 but that is just dissecting data to meet your needs.
If you would like to debate man made versus non-man made global warming, we can do that. I can’t prove anything but I have my suspicions.
If you look at the graph for the Annual Mean Temperature Change for Hemispheres you’ll note that the temperature increases in the northern hemisphere(where the majority of the worlds industry is located) are more than double over the southern hemisphere.
If you also go back to the Global Annual Mean Surface Air Temperature Change graph you’ll note that the increases in planetary temperature spiked between 1937 and 1945 that wasn’t matched again until the 1980’s. Now what was it that happened between 37’ and 45’ that could have spiked the planetary temperature so drastically? Could it have been a massive industrialization effort around the world due to an event that currently slips my mind?
Again, those two points don’t prove anything, but they are interesting to note.
