• For the first time since 2004, Raleigh NC has actual SNOW on the ground (not counting that 2005 ice storm thingy that even made the Rush Limbaugh show…)

It started later than expected, which will reduce total accumulation, but my grass, my car, my landscaping, my deck, etc. are all WHITE :-)

I HATED snow when I left Pennsylvania (had something to do with shoveling 14 FEET of it my last winter there), but here in North Carolina, folks have it right… snow equals SHUT DOWN and wait til its over…

Angel and I have done a few shots, drank some adult beverages, and even had a short snowball fight (I won  :-P ) in celebration of the white stuff coming down…

Forecast is for up to 4 inches… paltry by PA standards, paralyzing by Raleigh standards…

    Blizzard, huh?

Anyway, didn’t know you listened to Rush. :P

LOL, I know, it is pretty pathetic by Mid West and New England standards in terms of snow…

As for listening to Rush…  I did prior to finding my new FM station a couple of years ago (Clark Howard is on during Rush’s slot on that station).  I have started to pick up a bit of Rush from time to time on my Coastal run… out of range of my main station, and the ONLY talk station I can pick up has Ingram/Rush/Hannity instead of Boortz/Clark/Handleman.

I still can;t listen to Hannity.  If I am on the coast and 3:00 hits… over to the Classical station :-)

Well, I know our freakouts about snow here are a joke to Alaskans, so who am I to talk?

Anyway, I can’t stand Hannity.  Nor Colmes, nor most conservative talk show hosts.  I used to listen to Al Frankin but he lost his contract.  Con Air, ere, I mean Air America can’t seem to keep a host!  And Whoopi’s off the air too now.  So I’m back to listening to the national play list.

(I’d listen to Rush, but I refuse to pay and I have to work when he’s on.)

Not so paltry for PA this year though. We got maybe 6" here all year so far. Farmshow week, which was last week, is notorious for coinciding with a blizzard or snow dump or at the very least torrential rains. No snow… no rain… it got up to 65 here last week! ~ZP

  • What part of PA there Zero Pilot?

I grew up between Altoona and Bedford, went to school at IUP, and lived in the Harrisburg for a while.

  • Ahh… an ex-native keystone stater eh Switch? I’m in Lancaster County, PA. ~ZP

  • i remember the snow in NC, it’s funny how it all shuts down there for just an inch of snow. but stuff shutting down wasn’t the funniest, it was that people would rush the stores like they were going to be trapped in there homes for a week from just the forcast of a inch of snow. that was funny.

Rush, i don’t care for my self, i think it’s all his presintation. he just seams to full of him self, although Savage also seams that way, but i like him so i think there is more to it. couldn’t say for sure. i prefer though Glenn Beck.

And for non-PA folks, that is pronounced LANK-aster, not LAN-caster :-)

    Amish Country eh?

My father lives across the river from you in York County.

  • Nope, no snow where I’m at. I do hear that Connecticut has been hit pretty heavily though, my dad must be having a blast shoveling without me. 8-)

I just read in teh paper that it snowed in Baghdad last week, I’m sure it didn’t stick, but it was a big story - message from allah for peace and all that…

  • yah, globel warming, it’s getting so warm that it’s snowing in Baghdad.

    sorry couldn’t help it.

  • My snow is gone :-(

  • Yeah, it does get cold, but I haven’t even seen it rain yet much less snow. Lucky guys in Baghdad…

It’s been too cold to snow here.  You know, the air has to be a certain temperature to hold moisture to begin with.  I’m guessing higher then it takes to freeze an alcohol compass. (My compass, which is suspended in alcohol, was frozen this morning.  Literally frozen.  The ‘rubber’ was makes up the suction cup, whatever it’s called, was so stiff it let go of my windshield too!)

No Snow and a moderate Temperature in TX, Muwhahaha… Honestly Switch you should be happy that your in the kind of place that “auto-melts” your snow for you…

    GG

  • I know, I know… I shoveled 14’ my last winter in PA, and I HATED it.

But here… Here they shut down for snow…  free vacation day.

And my back yard would be so pretty with a 6" blanket of snow!  And I have these great windows that I could sit in front of with my coffee (or a glass of wine…) and watch the squirrels play in the snow :-)

I have been waiting for 3 years now, and I need more snow than we had over the weekend to realize my goal :-)
