Transformers the Movie

I didn’t want to read any comments on Into Darkness for fear of getting any spoiler tidbit. Let me just say I was stunned (not in a good way) by the third act. I could forgive the plot holes and shortcuts but the shameless recycling was unforgivable. Not looking forward to the most obvious sequel of the last 20 years.

I really wanted to like it but it was so compressed, I think the best scene is when that CGI plane blows up in the sky during the invasion. Was there a drop of blood in the whole movie that wasn’t from the deer? Not that I’m blood thirsty but this was a war movie.

This version will never be as good as MY Red Dawn back in the 80’s. The most dissapointing thing was waiting the 2 years when they were about to release it and followiing it on YouTube with bootleg footage and the fake trailers…humpf…I feel cheated. But, I found a blu ray copy of the original and it came with $7.50 off the price of a ticket so it only cost me $2.50 to watch so there Helmsworth! Put that towards your Malibu condo dude!

All true Red Dawn fans know this fact, It was the first ever rated PG-13 movie. In todays rating world, the orginal might have been rated R while this new version should have been Rated G.

I wish the sequnece of battles in the Lord of the Rings movie would have followed the books. The movies make Gondor out as weak, instead of truthfully divided on two fronts.

I always figured the Hobbit was a parallel of WW1 while the trilogy was a parallel of WW2. Tolkien fought in WW1, so he can be compared to Bilbo, while his family most certainly had some part in WW2 even though he didnt.

Disclaimer: somethingawful has a lot of things that will likely offend somebody, and this is my warning. If you find something you don’t like, I told you so.

I did some research on the net and found out that the movie was released on VHS in 1986 under the name “State of Division”, so you may be able to find a video of it under that name instead of “Death Race”.

Here’s a brief summary without spoiling anything:

Two American P-40s go on a mission in Africa to bomb a minefield, and one of them gets shot down and has to make a crash landing. The second pilot lands to rescue his buddy, but a German tank and soldiers show up and a stray bullet takes out something or another so that the plane can no longer take off, but can still taxi along the ground. The remainder of the movie is about the Afrika Korps chasing the two pilots and the plane across the desert, and it has a great ending that I’m not going to tell you about… :grin:

It’s really good for a TV movie - on http://www.imdb.com it has a rating of 8.3 out of 10.
