Wow! This variant looks really interesting but if I understand correctly, it requires a new map right? If so, is this even possible to play now since the map link provided does not work anymore?? Thanks in advance for any responses to this question.
Thanks. I’ve been reading the site a lot, but this thread is great. Again, thank you.
It’s amazing how players like Krieghund, Adlertag, and Imperious Leader got to help shape the AA50 game. If it were me, I’d be really proud of that. I’m really glad someone was pushing for Italy in the game. IMO it was one of those “About Time!” decisions.
Remember this is for one battle per leader, but it is a decent idea. Aldertag has the starting disposition correct and it contains all types of commanders.
Russia: 1 General
Germany: 1 General, 1 Air Marshal
England: 1 Air Marshal
Japan: 1 Air Marshal, 1 Admiral
America: 1 General, 1 Admiral
Now if you add Italy, they have 1 general ( Rommel)
Give UK one General
If you add anzacs they get nothing
:-o
May I suggest a possible infantry change based on historic facts. Russians had more men, Germans had better equipment and training for their troops not to mention their skill at combined arms tactics. So, why not let the Russians have their cheap infantry buys while giving the Germans a bonus in attack strength, say 2 in attack and 2 in defense when combined with armor or air units, ( no need for Artillary). Now that is what I call an easy fix. Since the germans start out with more tanks and planes than thier opponents they will kick butt early. But when the allies start to build up their combined arms, Germany will be overwhelmed in numbers. So the axis better do a lot of damage real quick to win.
Should be more fun though.
If someone does play-test this in a game could they let me know how it worked out? Thanks.

If something doesn’t work right,
fix it!
I can’t help it, I’m left handed
1939 Starting date imho is pointless because we all know that Norway, Western Europe and Balkans will have to fall and Italy has to join the Axis for Balance purpose. It offers players very little other than constantly repeating almost the same historical outcomes from 1939-1941.
1942 date is not good either because the most interesting parts (Barbarossa/Japanese Expansion) are passed and left the players very little options.
