@barnee I doubt that it is something on your end. I am regularly experiencing this, getting “temporarily unavailable due to heavy load” messages almost every day.
It’s not only bound to the login but to the access to the forum in general.

Most Online Ever: 375 (June 26, 2007, 08:57:21 am)
That doesn’t even seem possible!
-
We have that many distinct members? Here I thought out numbers were just massively inflated by people with retired accounts or multiple accounts.
-
……or multiple accounts.
Bahhhhh LOL!
-
Maybe hackers/bots?
I saw that as well…was very curious to me…
Does it include guests too?
-
I thought I was the only one who noticed that huge number
-
Nah, AgentSmith had like 7 accounts during his time here. :P
-
I’m like 7 people myself.
Or am I?
Dun dun dun.
-

Actually there was a brief time when a guest going from one page to another was showing as another guest user logged in. That is when we peaked out, due to each page view by a guest over a span of 15 minutes showing as a distinct user.
-
Is that normal as I run a site and ours only goes five minutes bakc but maybe that explains some things i have seen at other sites
-
Well, the “Users online” tracking shows the last 15 minutes of activity, so I am assuming that it was over a span of 15 minutes.
I was online during that couple of days when each guest page view counted as a unique hit (it was annoying to see who was online during that), so i am making an educated guess about the cause.
