Modifying A&A In-game nick.

Another great learning path you can take is 1941, 1942, and finally 1940.  More complicated/bigger usually equals more fun and more time-consuming.

Anniversary is still the most popular among loyal but infrequent gamers.

You need to edit the respective game.xml to be found in the subfolder “games” of your TripleA map.
Best idea would be to study the xml of existing FFA-mods and compare what is different to “regular” game.xml.

Take as an example Napoleonic Empires 5 Player FFA:

Well better is a relative term. I don’t think any game is “better” than any other. More a matter of preference.

Battle of the Bulge is not out yet and they have just begun the process of telling folks how the game is going to work. You are on your own on that one till November. Check out the forum board for the game on this site. There are some links to articles and pics.
D-Day is good if you only have a couple of hours and mostly want something to do while drinking some beers and hanging out.
Europe to me is the weakest and it has been awhile since I’ve played a game. It isn’t a bad game it is just the one I like the least.
Pacific I really like. I like the convoy centers and routes rules. I like the harbor and air bases rules and the victory points aspect. I like the way the board looks. Marines and it is fun when the US to spend 70 IPCs a turn. I think it is my favorite but I can’t say it is “best.”
Revised is what we seem to play the most. It is most like second edition with lots of the things that don’t work for lack of a better way to say it fixed. It can drag out a bit too long for me sometimes but it is really balanced and fair.

That is my take on your question. Frankly, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. But they all have a different tenor or feel to them.

As far as I know there isn’t a newer version then the 2004 one.

I think mostly online play, which there are various tools available to make it easier.

For instance, I believe this Club uses the old 1998 CD for Online play:

My only suggestion might be to try here, the atari tech support, maybe they can email you a code???

The game does freeze your comp. occasionly and it sometimes right when your about to win :evil: ! Don’t know why it does it but there are “pathes” to fix it…

Fairly sure it works on 98 huh? Not very well likely!! Dug out my old CD’s and wanted to play…the UNPATCHED A&A works fine…(well, still buggy) but when I apply the patch or try to play IB, I get to the “NETSTAT” screen and my comp locks down requiring a hard boot!! Ah the joys!! Seriously though, if anyone knows how to get it to work on 98 let me know!! Thanks!
