When I became a mod on another site in a previous lifetime, reading through all the “quaritined” threads really provided some insight into what was going on behind the scenes.

Then again, being a mod is a thankless task that I would not willing take up again.

By “insight” do you mean your own personal soap opera  :-D

Being a mod means you live in a soap opera.

It’s like being a police officer.  You get to spend your day dealing with only the most interesting people.

I’m pretty content to not be modding anymore.  Dealing with that ass AS/SHP was enough, in addition to the constant second-guessing etc. 
It was good that i had good back-up by Yanny/DM/DF.

Over the past several days I have begun having site connection issues… worse than previously experienced.

Is this a short term issue?  Or is site traffic just that high now?

What days? It should have only been twice. But the two times it happened it was bad.

This evening, and 1 or 2 days ago.

Yup. I’m working on it.

Short term, the next time this happens it should only last for 5-10 minutes; as opposed to 1 hour.

Long term, I make the problem go away.

(I apparently just have crap timing since I hit it twice for the entire duration…)

Yeah I was unable to get onto the site for a while a few days ago as well

Looks like some script kiddie uploaded a script to this box to try a DOS for either this site or another site. It basically hosed the connection until I found out about it today. There will probably be an outage tonight while I upgrade stuff.

Hope things settle down soon…

Today was like a 10 hour outage, and I ahve lots of e-mails from folks asking for help with it…

I could not get on myself for most of the day.  Dave, what time are you planning to shut down for upgrades?

it seems a lot faster now though. or maybe its just that my computer quarintened some virus today. don’t know which but its really fast.

When it is working right, it is faster.

Much faster after the upgrade!

When I click to read “New” messages in a thread it doesn’t work.  It always brings me to the first message in the thread.
