AAR using AAM and AAM: WaS pieces

I actually played a game to a draw where Germany knocked out Russia quite a few turns before Japan was conquered by the US.  Germany troops actually reached the Pacific the same turn Japan fell. 
Then the US got all of Africa and the islands in SE Asia.  The US was a huge juggarnaught and so was Germany.  Germany had well over half the IPC values under their control, but the IPC’s split about even because Japan had conquered the Asian territories first, so Germany didn’t actually collect revenue for them.  The US and Britain owned the seas so we called the game a deadlock.

Thats 366 pieces so about .64 cents each piece. Thats not including shipping, but still a great deal.

Enhanced doesn’t alter the ability to move out of a contested sea zone as part of a combat movement.  Bean is correct.

Look at the Sequence of play as well.

Arrows are what I hate most!  They clutter the board needlessly.

Pre-LHTR Lend Lease is insane.  Non-LHTR Super-fortresses is also pretty crazy.

Colonial Garrison makes KJF much stronger.  Radar messes with things a lot.  Mobile Industry makes the Caucasus no longer a vital country, and increases the strength of a KJF.  Mechanized infantry lets you do a lot of stuff, as does fast carriers, as does island bases . . . really, MOST of the Allied NAs are quite good.

Germany’s Blitzkrieg is decent because it frees up fighters.  Japan’s Banzai is okay.  (Banzai’s not great against a KJF, and even for a KGF, you need tanks and fighters for that last push into Moscow).  Most of the Axis NAs suck.  It is usually a matter of HOW MUCH they suck.

How to abuse pre-LHTR Lend Lease - UK fighters, US fighters.  You haven’t seen “stupid” until you see Russia producing 8-9 infantry a turn with 14 fighters for backup.  No, seriously.  Russia just beats the hell out of everything.  LHTR changed this, thank goodness.

How to abuse Superfortresses - build bombers to strat bomb, go for tech dice on US3 or US4.  With heavy bombers, you shut down Germany.  LHTR limits total damage per turn, I believe, instead of total damage per bomber, so stops this from doing more than 16 IPC damage.

How to abuse Blitzkrieg - well, you take this fat load of tanks, and use 1-2 infantry to trade territories with Russia early.  Since you can use your tanks to trade territories without committing, now you can use your fighters for other things.  Like . . . getting EVEN MORE territory, or fighting off that Allied Atlantic fleet.

How to abuse Banzai - use a lotta infantry, surprise.

This poll and post is even more difficult to answer than the combat poll.  This one not only depends on prior combat, but also on the outcome of those combats.  Your planned NCM can be obsolete and/or foolhardy by the time it’s time to make it.

Further update for anyone considering ordering additional pieces…

I received my back-ordered INF today, giving me a complete triple set of pieces.

Again, the UK INF were Sea Foam Green…

I did have to abandon my “floss boxes” for pieces (I was using 1 full sized box Axis, 1 full sized Allies, 1 half sized chips, etc).  I have replaced them with a small 26 drawer organizer.  With the dividers available, I was able to almost make one space for each type of unit (I still lumped all Capital ships into one of the larger drawers (still dividied by nation of course), and both bombers and FIGs share a drawer for each nation).  But otherwise, each nation is in its own row, and each unit is in its own drawer or within a section of a drawer.  It holds even the triple count of units nicely, and it is INCREDIBLY easy and quick to find what I need.

For those who do not travel with their board, a great way to organize the whole thing :-)

Of course, with the vast increase in available units, now I REALLY need to get one of those oversized boards (but my table isn;t large enough to hold one :-(  )
