Something I considered using in my variant.
Factions
US - Green
UK & NATO - Tan
France - Blue
SEATO- Grey

USSR - Red
China - Orange

Then you use Brown, Light Green, and Black to represent Pro Communist, Neutral, and Pro-Western
BUT here is the twist. You put forces of all 3 colors in countries to represent their leanings.

So for instance, a country like Venezuela would have 4 brown infantry, 2 light green and 2 black

If you try to activate it as the US, the neutrals join the Pro Communists, but you get the 2 black infantry on to your side (represents friendly forces)
Major powers can spend money and buy forces around the world for their proxy wars.

Yep been working on something like this for a long time. Finding all the pieces and color matches has been expensive and somewhat difficult to get I just the way I like it. I love the idea of proxy warfare and superpowers shuffling armies round the globe.

I personally like this idea, and love to see the inclusion of warlord armies in the interior and a special map dedicated to this scenario.

I have created SITREP, The day after… It’s basically Axis and Allies in a modern setting, starting the day after 9/11.

Modern units, a complete redesigned worldmap. It is all there.

In this boardgame, six powers are involved.

United States of America, United Kingdom, NATO at one side. On the other side, there are The Arab league, Russia and China.

I spend lots and lots of time to translate the ‘real’ situation into an Axis and Allies setting and according play style.
So far, I am very pleased and satisfied with the result.

I have recently created a new website to share the details with other players.
The introduction may be Dutch
The game rules however, are written in English.

Yes CWO (one of our residents history buffs  :-)) has some good points. What would you do if you were Japan? Invade China or pool resources for attacking ANZAC, UK, Russia, or even the US! All these options are open to you!

I have it, but am holding onto it for further playtesting on the set-ups.

Europe is being slightly changed in terms of the map, and there will be some minor additions to the rules.  These changes will probably be part of the map/rule package I am looking into producing.  Pacific would be released this way as well if all falls together.

what exactly is world at war? is it on the same map as original A&A? or is it something else completely different?
