Anyone played Axis Empires?

I love Axis and Allies obviously, but recently I’ve been playing HOI4 and looking for a more in-depth axis and allies, and in my research, I came across Axis Empires. I normally would just buy it, but it’s like $300 :)
Now if I get as much mileage out of it as I did Axis and Allies, that’s a no brainer, I might have played like 10+ games last year. Anyone have any opinions on Axis Empires, or any suggestions to point me in the right direction?

One of our members has the game - I have seen it and shortly studied it.
It is very similar to Avalon Hills Third Reich which we played back in the 90’s.
We found inspiration from some of these rules and have adapted them into the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.
