    That’s a large bill to pay for March! Would not like to see this site going down. Can I upgrade to Distinguished?

  • @VictoryFirst Don’t worry, the site won’t go down, I just have to pay out of pocket … it just hurts a bit while I’m not gainfully employed.

    Yes, you can upgrade. I just realized upgrading from Gold to Distinguished isn’t covered. I’ll fix that and get back to you.

  • @captainwalker Thank you for your support!

  • What do folks think about the following benefit for honor and above:

    All badges get applied to your 2nd account (the one you use for TripleA games).

    I don’t see people with two separate accounts, one to talk and one for game history & save posts; is that what this would be for?

    Curious about the advanced battle calculator idea as well, is that going to be something on the site?

    Going for Gold, here in 2026. May we have many more years of A&A to come.

    @djensen

    The decline in love of A&A is sad. 10 years ago there were like 100+ patrons, now only 20.

    Anyway, I suggest a new perk for the distinguished patron. You should be able to lock your own thread. Currently only mods can lock a thread. So I got this Blog running, “The Grand Strategy Game”, but I don’t want it to be an open discussion thread, I want it to be a locked Blog thread. If you can make that happen I’ll be distinguished in 2027. (Can’t afford this year sorry, on a budget) Also I have a Blog with a lot of pics. I don’t know the cost of a pic. I want to pay for my Blog, I’m not a freerider. How many pics do Gold cover and how many can distinguished cover? My Blog is based on pics.

    I think a major reason why interest has mostly died out is that there hasn’t been a “broad appeal” A&A game since 2012 (which looking through the forums history, seemed to be one of the most popular times of its life). As much fun as having specific theater games and super large maps, they only really appeal to a select group of people (mostly long time A&A players). While there definitely was world map bloat in the late 2000s/early 2010s, I feel they kind of need one now as these titles will only continue to fade from the public eye.

    While it may feel redundant to longtime players, a World/Europe map at the same or lower complexity as AA42 Second Edition would be the best choice. Of course the rules could be different, like having D12 battles, different Tank weights, etc. but it should still be digestible to the general masses. However, the most important thing they need to do is ADVERTISE. Besides sharing in already existing A&A communities, Renegade has not been advertising their games at all. YouTube ads, banner ads, maybe even sponsors or just something to get the word out. They NEED to advertise this game, as we really need a new generation of A&A players to expand the community, and THEN we can do more theater and complex games.

    A new generation of players means a larger community, who will then play more advanced titles as they get more into the game franchise. I hope the series ultimately makes a comeback, but without a massive campaign like this, I’m not so sure it will.

    Sorry if I went on a bit of a rant here, but this is just my opinion on the matter.

    @CentralCommando

    I surely don’t want to derail Jensens thread, so you should make a new topic. This issue need a dedicated thread, for sure.

    That said, the quintessence of A&A is a simplistic game with simplistic rules. Easy to learn, and a lifetime to master. Either AA42 second ed or Anniversary, but not with dark colors. (The colors from MB Classic or Europe (1999) or Pacific (2001) had maps with bright colors. Too dark colors make me sad). Focus on that. All this Theather games with different and complex rules, some with D12, D10 or D6, or a dice Box, different stacking limits (in the range of 8 to 12 units) different supply rules, different road movement rules was a bad idea. Streamlining of rules and ease of play should be the cornerstone of A&A. Now make this new thread and I for sure will weight in, man
