Playing 1941 with Zombies Board

@sniffemonster The First edition of the Classic version had the Commander in Chief Rules, any Allied nation could combine together with another Nation to Attack together- that Rule was done away with in the 2nd edition Classic version!!!

First 2 games were with the Norse pieces but me and the friends are looking into making a few zombie rule changes with the Norse pieces.

I’m currentley working on an ‘Armageddon’ type of rule set. I decided that in addition to Nuclear rules and other goodies that I wanted zombies. I downloaded the rule book for Zombies and printed it off. It took me about an hour to figure out how to do it without the special cards and tokens. I decided just to put a blank marker under the piece that is a Zombie unit.
Without the cards I have made it so that the Zombies are stationary. Unless, you have the tech that allows you to move one. I decided to treat the chart with the advantages as a research board for my game.
Has anyone else done this?

I attack German Held West Russia with all units from Karelia, Archangel and the Tanks and fighter from Russia and Caucasus

Say after 1 round of attack, I have killed two German Infantry leaving 1.   I want to retreat after reducing the enemy force concentration.

The rules read that all units must withdraw to one friendly place.  I choose Archangel.  
So the infantry are then done moving having used 1 movement to the attack. (And since I committed everyone from Karelia, the space is now empty).

The tanks should still have 1 movement available each so I could move them to Russia?  The Fighter has 3 movement so I could place it at Russia or Caucasus?

Just trying to understand the movement rules for retreating.  not saying I like the attack scenario itself!

All the units would retreat together, to a territory where they came from.
Since you had units in the attack from archangel, you may choose archangel. BUT all retreating units must go to archangel, tanks and fighters too.
If you had the same scenario, but had amphibious troops as well, the amphibious troops may not retreat but all others may go to archangel.

Land and Sea Units: Move all attacking land and sea units in that combat that are along the battle strip to a single adjacent

where they came from.

Air Units: Retreating air units remain in the contested space temporarily. They complete their retreat movement during the

So remaining land units retreat together to a single adjacent friendly space from or through which at least one of the original attacking land unit came from.

Air units retreat independently during Non Combat Move Phase being allowed to use all their remaining movement points,

as no unit - except air units - may move during as well Combat Move Phase as Noncombat Move Phase.

I think I know the answer to my own question and the answer is I have no option but to engage in dice battle and to either keep battling or retreat back to where I came from.

Right, the purpose of the Combat Move Phase is to move into hostile territories to either initiate combat (against hostile units) or just capture the territory (in case there are no enemy combat units present).

It would also be a throwback to the original Nova Games version of A&A, which used flat counters.
