2v2 Final: Daaras and FranceNeedsMorePower (L) vs Gamerman01 and Booper (X)

  • @FranceNeedsMorePower

    Scramble 3 fighters

  • @FranceNeedsMorePower

We will need to take casualties round by round at least initially, so please post the game file as well after the attack rolls so I can decide on casualties.

Also, make sure you are playing on Forum mode and not Local, so the dice rolls come through.

  • @Booper Used edit to move the carriers btw.

  • @Booper The edit I did is not including the carriers in the battle to soak as hits. What did I do wrong?

  • @FranceNeedsMorePower

Your opponent needs to have the opportunity to pick casualties, particularly in a big fight like this. Do I want to sink my carriers, or just take 1 damage and hope they survive to repair, or take 0 damage do planes can still land on them?

You must post the game file at every decision point your opponent has, and ask for their feedback.

Can you post where you are at now?

  • @FranceNeedsMorePower

OK, I’ll try to give you some guidance here.

    1. You should never edit the Combat Move. Just start again, re-load the save game file, and fix whatever you didn’t do that you wish you did. Then you can re-post the finalized file and ask for Scramble instructions. There is no reason to do an edit here!

    2. You need to save and post the game every time it asks for opponents losses in big battles (especially sea battles). If there is an obvious inf vs tank loss, you don’t need to, but in larger battles, it’s best to.

As a concrete example, please look at this game, starting at Italians Round 3.

A combined Italy fleet and air is attacking a British fleet with carriers and air. I ask for casualties EVERY SINGLE time it asks for casualties for the UK. There are 4 total Italian posts, at different phases of the battle, then the final one with NCM complete. I also repost the file so there’s no ambiguity of what is happening at each phase. I then wait for my opponents response before continuing.

Yes, it is more time consuming, but if you don’t do this, you are at the mercy of your opponent. They can say they wouldn’t have taken the casualties you selected, and you need to re-do the fight. Or you might have to come to some other resolution and involve the game arbiter. It is best to always ask when there are multiple options (generally with moderate to large sea battles).

    Hope this makes sense.
