Custom Battle Board AA50

@hopper1999 I’ve access to both resin and PLA printers, and while resin has a couple of extra steps compared to PLA, I wouldn’t consider it painful. I’ve come to appreciate resin’s ability to show detail even in very small scale. For me its worth the extra steps to clean and cure, for those results. What’s great is there are so many free units available, with some simple editing/converting you can quickly build cool armies.
As for casting, while I haven’t casted any A&A parts yet (still building my unit library), I have casted a lot of 3.75 action figure parts. I’ve gotten best results using a syringe and pressure pot. (I converted a old paint pressure tank). You inject your mold, and then put it under pressure, I’d do around 30psi, to help the resin into the thinner parts of the mold and prevent bubbles. It also helps, when making your mold to put it under pressure as well. I’ve found it helps prevents bubbles in the silicone and between the silicone and the part being cast.
I plan on using casting to duplicate units I already have, that I can’t find stl files for.

I’ve gotten several private messages and some responses in this thread… so just as a head’s up and a community service…

Because of the private messages, I have ALREADY made a deal to unload my custom units, and they are, in-fact, already mailed off.

I know its kinda pointless now, but if you’re still that curious as to what I did have, here’s the complete list of the custom HBG units I had purchased in the last few weeks to beef up my bins… since I later made a decision to pull them and not use them, I did eventually re-order equivalent numbers of default/original OOB A&A units from HBG to beef up my numbers (like if I didn’t like the two HBG Japanese Fuso battleships, I reordered two OOB Kongo or Yamato battleships to replace them… so-on and so-on.  Anyways, here’s the (now kinda pointless) list:

(BTW: you may notice that for the most part, planes are missing from this list… I found most custom HBG aircraft to be good enough and scaled well enough to survive my “off-scale axe”.  So there are many HBG planes like P-47s and F4F/Hellcats that survived the cut and made it into my permanent bins)

Regarding prices, here are some quotes that I got from two different Southern California print shops  (I had posted this also on the thread entitled Ambilzi & Grasshopper’s 1940 Global Map)

The first print shop provided the following estimates (note the $52 set up fee):

SET UP:  $52.05 ( digital color file set up, latex printer set up)

I have been getting some requests for the air base & naval base icons I used for my custom map, so here they are…

Im working on a display for my HBG Minis.
But I decided to make a small table.

But i picked a different way of making it. Instead of picking out where to place tanks and etc… I played a small war game on it. Hence “Living boards” as each bored is determined by the outcome of a battle.

Rules
Tanks
Rear- Die roll of 2
Sides -4
Front-5
Top-2
To defeat a shot you have to out roll the die.
Air support is a single sweep of 3 die. Air is called in rolling 4 die and getting 12 and up.

Turns
First 3 turns were moving. Turn 3 had the first M4 fire at a T34.
At the end of turn 3, 1 Sherman had been lost.
Turn 4 saw the loss of one T34
Turn 5 saw the loss of another M4
Turn 6 saw the loss of another T34 and a filed Allied air support call in.
Turn 7 saw no losses despite the Successful role for a Sabre air support.
Turn 8 saw the lose of the Last M4.

Result.
The Bridge leading out of town (Occupied by OPFOR) is blocked with the remains of the M4s.
The ORBAT forces lost half their strength, and must await engineers to clear the bridge.
The Bridge is still intact, but may have some damages due to the exploding tanks.
Allied forces failed to establish a front line on the other side of the bridge.
