I find the AI does a much better job on the latest 1942 game. At least as Axis.
Which version of Europe 1940 do I have? Box matches SE design but no ‘Second Edition’ print.

Hi, I bought Axis & Allies 1940 Europe. The listing said “Second Edition,” but the box actually doesn’t have that label. Otherwise, it seems to be the same box design, and the maps line up perfectly with the Pacific version. The participating nations (Italy, France) and the sculpts also look like the Second Edition.
Was there another edition after the first Europe version that used the new design, and if so, how does it differ from the Second Edition? Is it just the rulebook, or are units missing and are the maps different? I’m asking because I’m considering returning it, but if it’s only the rulebook, you can simply download that online. Thanks everyone.

The image shows the cover of the first edition, issued in 2010.

… additionally you can search for forum topics covering the details (might be hard to find, though). If the differences don’t bother you you can use the board together with Pacific 1940 2nd. ed.
