1941 Second Edition

@The-Captain I have always assumed that we–axisandallies.org–had Renegade lurkers. That’s how I came up with the idea for the thread. Here’s to hoping they have seen it or will, when it comes time for a 4th edition (assuming tournament 42 is 3rd edition) consult this thread.

I am playing Axis and Allies 1941 with some home rules and I have some questions about what strats I could use to gain an advantage over the Allies. I am playing Germany and Japan against the Allies. The home rules we have are that tanks can blitz through occupied territory. for instance attack an occupied territory then blitz and attack a new space right next to the one they just captured and attack the units inside that space. Please tell me your thoughts on this I know that it is really overpowered but we have one more, bombers can, instead of bombing, pick up one man and drop him in a territory as a paratrooper so you can capture those spaces with nobody on them. We also added bombardment by only battleships, hit on a 4 or less.

So first German turn I captured Moscow and surrounding territory, I did not think about the necessity of taking Anglo Egypt before I found this website so I did not do this and now India is backed up. England gained control over the Atlantic and holds my battleship and 2 subs in sea zone 5 they hold it with a Huge fleet which has a fully maned aircraft carrier and they took western Europe with one tank remaining I can take this back quickly though because I have 4 tanks and 4 inf available in Germany I just wanted to know what I should aim for and what are my goals to try and get. my income per turn is about 20.

If you have any questions you can ask. about the home rules one more I should mention is that transports instead of having no defense can escape. they role one dice depending on how many ships are in the fleet, so if there is 2 ships the transport roles and a 2 or less it escapes if 3 ships it roles 3 or less escapes etc… if more then 6 ships it automatically escapes you can decide if it escapes or not if you decide to escape it can only move one space if it can’t move anywhere to a empty space or where there is friendly units it can’t escape it cannot move into a enemy occupied territory.

@sniffemonster The First edition of the Classic version had the Commander in Chief Rules, any Allied nation could combine together with another Nation to Attack together- that Rule was done away with in the 2nd edition Classic version!!!

Ya but every thing is raised +1 across the whole game for AD
So far Allies 3-2
But should be 4-1. Axis had 1 tank in coast city. Allies Didn’t bring enough troops.
It was nice had allies attack St. lo on T4 or 5
Added a few pieces to setup. 3 extra paratroopers and a few tigers late on card and AD@5 I think M1 only. Moved 3 block houses off coast on upper left side of map and put in 2 more against big US beachhead and other one against other US beach head.

Hey ClassicDude,

We agree on the narrow issue that China shouldn’t be knocked out quickly and easily by Japan, but we may need to agree to disagree about the rest. It sounds to me like we’re trying to accomplish different goals. You seem mainly interested in encouraging players to re-enact the historical Japan vs. China conflict, where Japan made deep investments in the China war all through WW2, and didn’t get much to show for it. I’m more interested in making sure that all players have a variety of interesting and balanced strategies available to them – which might include a heavy war in China, or it might focus instead on Indonesia, Siberia, India, or a naval showdown with the Americans.

I think it’s very possible that given your group’s play style, your rules may work great for you and your friends – if America is in the habit of ignoring Japan, then you may as well buff up China to the max to keep Japan busy. In my playgroup, though, we often see Kill Japan First openings, where the USA builds a large navy and attacks the Japanese Empire with it starting on turn 3 or 4. If Japan has to spend most of its income fighting China, then Japan won’t have a realistic chance to even hold off the US Pacific Fleet, let alone defeat it. We do in fact sometimes invade mainland China, because Japan is usually too heavily fortified to take with an early transport fleet – the USA will only have enough cash left over to build one or two loaded transports in the opening, because the rest of their money has to go toward building up a fleet that can overwhelm the Japanese boats and planes.

Germany: The Waffen SS: Costs 4 IPCs. Attacks and Defends on 2 or less. Moves 1 (Use Germany�s Infantry pieces from Axis and Allies Classic to represent them.)

Could we leave out the Nazi unit? The last thing I want are people falsely thinking this is game and website is some kind of alt right meeting place.

Besides, Germany doesn’t need any HRs help when they can churn out 5 IPC tanks.
