    Yes, you are right. Not knowing how the first round of Russian planes will hit (miss everything), I would have left the subs then.

    So, do as you suggested.

    Technically, you are allowed to know how that planes rolled before assigning casualties since you had a DD.

    In that case, sink the sub in round 1, then in round 2, sink CV and one dd.
