Very rarely do I run out of US carriers.  I just use the chips if I have more than 4 American carriers.  Sometime I just borrow one or two from 1942 second edition or Europe 1940.  They are pretty much the same.  Europe 1940 comes also with 4.

It does!  Thanks for the rulebook notes.  Makes taking Japan that much harder, little OP’ing… but it is 4 on 1.

I too am new to the site, but have been playing this game for nearly 15 years. welcome to the family.

In regards to a pacific strategy I believe that China is a place for mis-placed agression. I dont think you need to advance more then 4 provinces in to China, taking Yunan, Hunan, Anhui, and Charhar. This reduces China economy by 1/3 and denies them their NO, it also keeps your units close enough to the coast to pull them back if they become needed else where.
The key to winning comes from taking and holding the southern resource area which include Maylay, Kwangtung, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Celebes, French Indo-China, and the Philipines. By taking this area you will double Japans economy and reach a parity with the US. Also, this area will put 2 more VC under your control, which are the objectives you need to win, and gain you some of your NOs.
From here its key to make swift work of India, throwing everything you can aginst them. The quicker this is done the beter (turn 4 or 5 ideally). Then you will be free to finnish of China at your leisure.

After that its really up to you. I like to go after the Anzac’s as taking their VC is harder for the US to take back. Best of luck, hope this helps

sorry. should point out that he has at least 7 bombers by end of round 4 unless I attack J1, then he has 8.  I might just try and put alot of pressure on Hawaii in our next game…force him to have to buy more ships off the start instead of the 2 bombers.

Or I will have to try an amphibious assault on Queensland.  Not easy considering he has all the ANZAC fighters and infantry on their.  But doing that takes away from capturing the DEI…I usually fall back and take the DEI, thats where the money is.  Taking AUST doesn’t reward the Japanese player economically!!

Yet on the game board they are represented by nothing at all, 85,000 troops should be at least 1or 2 inf units. a plane and a destroyer at least. And would these units fight a british invasion or join the britts when they came?

The FAQ has been updated with a clarification on New Hebrides.  It is treated in the same way as FIC.

Makes sense for game purposes considering the way it is marked on the map board.  :-)
