I suppose Germany could have taken Greece but it isn’t ideal.

Well, so much for a 14 unit win IF the Axis won. Only got by with 6 units. Too bad; was hoping for a much better result there assuming you didn’t get the 28% win.
-
@AndrewAAGamer about a 30% chance to have had that 14+ unit-remaining win in the massive battle. The stats in battlecalc are often deceptive.
You always play exciting games! Love watching this playoff match.
-
@AndrewAAGamer I didn’t think you would go for it, but obviously can appreciate it was pretty tempting. I’m lucky I got that outcome.
-
Russia getting those 3 AA hits, increased the Allies odds for a victory I reckon to roughly 38%, versus the initial 28-29%.

Congratulations farmboy — utter wipeout.
Really great counter to my Japanese Strategy. I thought I had come up with the counter to the Yunnan Stack and you proved it horribly inept. In all my tests it never dawned on me to declare war as UK on Turn 2. That was brilliant. While I had a momentary surge in monies it kept the Chinese and British from being separated which had been my goal.
With my play in the Pacific being behind I had to be a bit more brave with the dice and when the 72% battle didn’t go as planned I hoped the 85% battle would turn things around. Of course, with the utter failure of that battle game over.
I am thinking with the Yunnan Stack the Bid is going to have to drop considerably.
BTW - I loved your opening for the Allies on the Europe side of the board. That will become my go opening. As they say steal from the best. :)
Congratulations on a perfectly played game!!!

@AndrewAAGamer On the Europe side, I thought you were really effective and efficient at putting maximum pressure on the Soviets. It meant that you had the option of going to smolensk to force me to retreat instead of attacking Bryansk. If the situation was better in the pacific, I thought you would not have gambled there… On that side, you were also very efficient at putting a tonne of pressure on India and were again quite efficient at getting a lot of Japanese land units available for the attack. It seemed to me that the the problem there was that that focus on getting India meant that you were not able to keep the US out. I think one alternative here might have been preparing for a slower capture of India, and just trying to maximize Japanese income early and keep the US on the outside.

I agree 100%.
I felt good about the Europe side. My problem was my original plan was to split China and India at Yunnan and your move to DOW on UK2 totally eliminated that plan.
My revised plan was to go for India but as you said I quickly realized that meant the US was going to go wild. That forced me to take the 72% battle in Belarus that normally I would have ignored. Unfortunately, I went 4 units under average which put me in a position of status quo. I wasn’t behind, but I also wasn’t ahead, which was not good since I was in trouble in the Pacific.
Thus, when you accidentally gave me an 85% battle to knock out Yunnan I couldn’t pass up that opportunity. Unfortunately, for me, you won instead of me and given the rest of the board position the game as over.
Looking at the game via a debrief perspective, your plan was better than my plan. Because of that I was forced to take battles that relied on fair dice to get back into the game. With your mistake in Yunnan I easily could have got back into the game. But, the dice didn’t cooperate, which is why I always try to have a plan that doesn’t depend on fair dice.
Thanks again for the game. As always you learn more from losing than from winning. :)
