@barnee thanks heaps!
Why is the Caspian Sea not labelled?
-
This always confused me, since it seems like it was always intended for it to be usable.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato thats to defeat the Caspian Sea people who developed special AA rules. In one of their games playing MB, someone built a battleship for Russia and placed it there, hence the name Caspian Sea Group
-
I’m confused. I don’t understand. Can you please clarify? Thank you!
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato an entire group of players that sat around and made house rules, played MB AA and one game a guy bought a Russian Battleship and ever since the group was known as the Caspian Sea Players group. ok?
-
That…makes more sense.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato The Caspian Sea is a sea zone. See page 8 of the Rulebook. I’m not sure why it doesn’t have a number. Perhaps it’s because it’s not connected to the other sea zones.
This has nothing to do with the Caspian Sea Group.
-
Yeah, I was confused about Imperious Leader’s comment. Thanks for clarifying!
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato I wasn’t commenting on the original topic , only an ancillary one- namely my only interaction with MB relating to Caspian Sea. Its not really a proper sea zone. This is why it doesn’t have a number, as nobody would deal with it in any game. IMO
-
@Imperious-Leader the rulebook is explicit that it is a real sea zone.
-
@zooooma it has a number?
-
In Global 1940 it’s used to fly 4-space aircraft directly from Persia to Moscow. So unlike other games (like 1914 where it, ironically does get a number), it’s actually serves an important purpose in Global 1940.
-
@Imperious-Leader said in Why is the Caspian Sea not labelled?:
@zooooma it has a number?
Irrelevant. There is no rule that all sea zones must have numbers. There is a rule that explicitly states this is a sea zone.
See page eight.If you want to play with a house rule that’s your business.
-
@zooooma there is no rule that they are sea zones without a number either, or a name. See page 23
I play OOB.
-
@Imperious-Leader
I see no mention on page 23 of sea zone numbers. Only this:“You can place sea units only in sea zones adjacent to territories containing eligible industrial complexes. New sea units can enter play even in a hostile sea zone. No combat occurs because the Conduct Combat phase is over.”
If you look at page 8, you WILL see this:
“Note: The Caspian Sea (surrounded by Caucasus, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Eastern Persia, Persia, and Northwest Persia) is considered to be a sea zone, even though it does not have a number.”
I suggest you recheck the rules. You might be looking at the wrong book.
