A couple of years ago there were a few games like this but with the USSR starting with all the Chart 1 (land and production) techs. Played properly, this gave allies the advantage I would say, although the Axis still won a few.

Even if you don’t qualify on first day you can typically re-enter for the second day. Or you can ask others about a game. Greg does a great job. He’s been running the A&A tournaments at Origins and GenCon for years. If you really like Global, please check out our group in Nashville. We host a few long weekend events per year. Try adding some chinese inf. If you can add only 1 unit add it to the burma road. It will take away at least 2 more ��� units.
Try adding extra units in UK in defence of the standard attacks that germany does, a fighter in schotland would be painfull, a destroyer near the cruiser off gibraltar.

How about a inf for china, 1 fighter in schotland and a sub in the med for a 19 bid.
The attacks germany can do against your fleet off schotland becomes pretty interesting that figher will take 1 or 2 airunits with him at least.

If you place a fighter in scotland I assume you are more or less “forced” to scramble all 5 planes (Scotland and United Kingdom) if Germany attacks both fleets?

I would assume the goal would be for Germany to make a choice on which fleet to kill, and for the UK to have decent odds to do some damage in one of the battles, if Germany tries for it all.  If I were to get an 18 bid, I might try a destroyer in 110 and a fighter in scotland.  If I could place 2 units in a single territory, then a 20 bid would be 2 fighters for scotland.

I’d be curious about a minor in Egypt paired with successful Taranto. Egypt would be pretty hard to get without Germany sending considerable resources.

Going up

A: 8
B: OK, I take it at 8.

The difference with going up is you bid for what the other person will get as the allies. When you go down it is for what you want to take the allies with.

Agree on a fair bid (9 is quite standard)
Roll dice for desiding countries.
Change countries with one another as you please.

Screw doing a bid.

Do a lottery,  shake up all the roundels in your hand, and hand them out randomly.

If people want to trade, let them.  If not, forget it, and play.

Adding up to 120 in IPC’s to the game board, is NOT how to play Axis and Allies.
