Yeah Yunnan keeps Burma Road almost always open since China can keep the five bucks coming in, the artillery buy just adds an advantage. It’s really hard to use China offensively against a Japanese player who knows what they are doing but in my games, I find Japan going after India by sea any ways.

They can also take the Denmark, Finland, Holland et al money with this proposal. Also for example, SZ 112 and 126? would be connected to Norway $, making the placement of convoying units more flexible. Youre right that mostly the money will be taken by the proper force, not convoyed, but this proposal increases the value of subs and puts a lot more money on the line. I agree in principle that the convoy zones chosen by the creator are themey and appropriate but its easy to go further and put alot more $$ at risk on the board sea/land.

I put a russian sub down in Game 191 just for fun (it cost me later) and I did successfully blow up both and all possible Normandy/norway money for one turn. What if the baltic was like that? This also goes back to Dave’s idea of splitting the adriatic (so to nerf taranto and divide Italy $$ into two convoy zones)

––There is a difference between Liberating and Conquering a country.

––Unless a “rolling the dice” combat takes place, it would simply be a re-enforcement of an allied country.

––When combat DOES take place and the Allied player wins,…then:

A. If the French DO control their Capital (Paris), then control of the country would be turned over to France. (Liberating)
B. If the French DO NOT control their Capital (Paris), the victorious nation would now control the territory. (Conquering)

––Basically,…in order for the USA, UK, or USSR to gain control (and income) of a French territory they have to have a COMBAT with an enemy force,….they can’t just “walk in” as that would simply be re-enforcement of a French territory.

What Japan does in the north really depends on what Russia does.
If they pile up all 18 infantry on Amur, then do like Wittmann said, pound them good and quick. Except for the 6 guys in Mongolia, that basically opens up all the Russian far east territories for Japan to walk into over the next few rounds. Almost like free IPCs for Japan.
If Russia withdraws all troops to head for Moscow, which I have seen happen, that leaves you free to use most of those troops in Manchuria and Korea in China or other places you might need extra troops. Just leave a few there on the border. Then after 3 rounds or so, when the Russians are too far west to hinder you, walk some troops up and start taking Soviet territories. Of course, you will have to deal with the 6 Mongolian/Russian troops but that shouldn’t be too difficult.
If Russia only withdraws some of the far eastern troops, like say he leaves 6-9 infantry in Amur and heads the rest toward Moscow, that usually means he wants to guard his eastern territories but isn’t looking to be aggressive toward Japan unless a blatant opportunity comes up (like Japan withdrawing all troops from Korea or Manchuria and leaving them totally open). In that case, as Japan, I would simply leave the troops there on Manchuria and Korea and consider that area a “non-combat zone”, meaning there is simply no fighting going on there. You could possibly take a couple of the troops to use elsewhere, but you don’t want to weaken youself too much or Russia might take advantage. Yeah, it sucks leaving so many guys just sitting there, but you have to keep Russia honest. Plus, at least you start with those guys and any new stuff can go to your campaigns elsewhere.

What I like, for turn order, is the following:

Germany
Russia
Japan
United States
China (order is important rarely, but kill the issue NOW)
Italy
United Kingdom (all one power)
Australia/France

To solve the Italian issue with fleet deals:
-1 Destroyer Italian
-1 Transport Italian
-1 Submarine Italian
Move Alexandrian fleet to Suez Canal (east of Egypt, not north)
Move the Gibraltan fleet to SZ 91
Move the French fleet to SZ 87

This ends the threat to the British fleet by an early Italy move, saves the Italian fleet so they are a threat to Africa, and does not suicide the French fleet for no real game purpose.  The fleets can still engage, the British/French can always move into the Med if they want (but Italy should get one round of the NO) and Italy being down a transport can stop it, but cannot take all of N. Africa (for instance) they’re moves are limited other ways.

Also, this kills the whole issue with a dead nation having a turn of their own.  Just dump them on the Australian player as a semi-useless nation (they have units left, but no purchases/builds) so you are not holding up an entire game JUST so France can say “nah, I don’t want to do anything.”

No doubt. especially as the OP was proposing landing UK planes (not enough of those) in a territory with no fodder defense.

If the UK ever lays out a delicious snack like their precious India fighters and the only cost will be a 10 IPC national objective and some japanese fodder infantry…  snarf.
