@SS-GEN Well to be fair, donations here don’t go to supporting TripleA and its lobby/dice servers just the A&A website/forum. As an update: after e-mails from my home e-mail, work e-mail and PMs on the forum, I have now received a reply from FMG. The items have now been declared ‘presumed lost’ and it has been clarified that I won’t be receiving them due to the expense of sending replacements.

As stated though, FMG were great to deal with early on, and the dice sets and IPC certificates I did receive are great products.

Now that communications have been re-established, the purpose of this thread had been achieved, so I will finish this thread off. I will, however, place a post in the ‘Axis & Allies Marketplace’ [edit] in case anyone else is concerned about having ‘bad luck’, as it does appear items going astray and breakdowns in communication have occurred before.

In no way though am I suggesting that anyone should not order from FMG, just that it may pay to be aware of some potential issues, which may or may not occur for other individuals.

Thankyou again for your time and assistance, and for the great articles and support for players of our favourite game.

Okay, I think we can nail down the exact release date of the original NOVA Axis and Allies edition to July 3, 1981, as it debuted at the Origins Game Fair in 1981 and the dates for the Origins Game Fair can be found here:

What are the differences between 3rd and 2nd Editions?

If you are familiar with the 1998 CD version, that is the start of 3rd edition (or had 3rd edition options).

Some changes are, submerging retreating subs, air units can retreat from amphib assualts, Wcan no longer boarders the Atlantic.

2 hit BBs were introduced, although I think that was just and extra option.
Always active AA’s, I think just another option.

what happened to 1st edition?

I’m not too familiar with 1st edition, it was before my time.  I started playing in the mid 80’s and it was already 2nd edition.

From my understanding 1st edition had some different multinational rules (possibly attacking) and new IC’s had no production cap.  So a common strat would be UK build and IC on Per and just strat pumping out units.
