Combat Hit Differential Summary :
Germany regular : 3.33 France regular : -0.33
My entire home fleet attacked a single UK CA, and all 4 subs hit. I wish I could have saved that good dice for when I really needed it.
-
@FMErwinRommel Paris looks assured now that you have 25 rolls at plus 1 for the Art.
-
@Witt Tech luck is a big factor in whether Paris holds or falls in G5. Barrage tech for G adds 15+ hits over 4 rounds of combat. If I had gotten mustard gas instead, the benefit would be less, depending on when I got it and how many gas that I built.
France could get a similar amount of defense if it got railway guns, depending on how many HGs it bought. France, getting propaganda on F1 would add 12 inf, but only 3 on F4. Bunkers would be taken out on first round, so only give 2 hits.
I’ve learned that building fast moving cav or gas in Berlin is more effective than buying another IC in Rhine, when the deadline is G5. -
-
@Elrood is up as Austria, not Adam. Nice try Leo.
-
I really struggled to do my go, as the batteries were going in thr mouse and I couldn’t open it.
Have bought a new one . Was very frustrating.
I make it that you have 97.7, wity 40 surviving.
That means : Game over . -
@Witt Yes, but we’ve never continued playing the game after Paris fell, and it would be interesting to see how the game turned out.
Has anyone played a game where Paris fell and continued the game to see if Entente could still win?
Annual income for both sides would be equal and production would be close.
-
@FMErwinRommel it is impossible to win , without France and its 60 income .
-
@FMErwinRommel If you really wanted to do that, FM, you should have volunteered to play France.
In any case, more interesting would be to revert to an adjustment that made the capture of Paris more difficult. After much experience of the game we used to do this. Then you joined us, FM, and were keen to stop it following a game in which my F survived. But, as I said at the time, it really was touch and go, despite the pro-French adjustment, which I think might have been the Industry tech.
-
And Germany getting France’s income , means a fleet can be built that can better Britain’s Channel one . Britain’s can’t then build to hold against Turkey and Germany will take all of France and probably Rome, especially with Cav that can move 3.
What hope can the Entente have of gaining income that they can spend against the CPs on land? -
All that talk of winning… guys… I do not even know the win conditions or have seen them achieved by any side. Usually someone (Witt) is preaching gloom and doom and then the game is forfeit.
-
@Elrood like you would play the Entente under these conditions. We know how you hate to lose!
-
@Witt The whole game mod is lopsided. I do not believe it can be fixed with the limited tools we have.
-
I have said how France needs IPropaganda and how Germany should be given an IC in the East. Perhaps , Britain could have a Naval Tech or a couple of DDs.
We Need to take away the Paris take down strategy and see more Eastern Front and other map use. -
@Witt It would mean that Germany has even more to build against France, lest they get oveerun eventually, and has no income left for that eastern IC…
-
@Witt You only want to see Germany suffer a pointless struggle, like in your Global40 - 1943 mod :-P
-
@Elrood I want to see Germany defeated , yes, crushed into pieces and as small as Belgium .
-
Usually, G doesn’t go all out and France survives and then becomes very strong. And USA busies itself with conquering Central America and Spain before seriously helping in Europe. Then G is tied up defending against F, UK and USA.
I like the idea of not making it all about Paris but rather balancing out the rest of the global battlefield.
What if G got a small bonus bid to place extra starting units in Pacific or maybe Africa, but that couldn’t be used in Europe, and couldn’t build anything in Berlin until G3? So, no massive cav or gas builds in Berlin on G1 or G2. Merckle could still build 6 units, but G might choose to build navy or transports for Scand. Then F wouldn’t need or get any bonus bid. G might have to go defensive on Western Front.
Then Pacific could become a more balanced and bigger theater of operation. Although not historically accurate. -
We’re getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s continue the game until Paris actually falls.
@Witt The game map de-emphasizes the Eastern Front. It’s up to Austria, Turkey and Commies to take out R. We’ve had some great struggles in central Africa between G and UK. The Pacific has potential if we push G in that direction. -
