Spring Gathering / GenCon 2025

The Spring Gathering is a light-hearted, two-day mini-CON focused primarily on Axis & Allies gameplay.

Last weekend’s BoB was less well attended with 4 players, but we had a great see-saw game of Anniversary.

The next Battle of Britain will be held on the 21st April 2024.

This all-day event is held in Derbyshire, UK. Typically we have 8 to 12 players, meaning up to three A&A games running - Anniversary, 1942.2 and 1914 - allowing everyone to decide which they wish to join.

After a break of 3 years because of the covid.
Our group start again new games.
We have done 1 in november 2022 and now we will make our second game in spring 2023.

Looks like Carl and Nephew went on to win the 42.2–they played the new entrants (i think?) Doug and Shawn, who went all the way from green recruits to the final!

And congrats to my friends on the Dixon/Butler/Seacrest team for taking G42.  Plenty of upsets, Mr. Czach and Roby/Davidson took 2nds so that’s multiple favored teams getting upset and vicious seasoned competition in every rule set.

Join us for the 14th Annual 2016 Axis & Allies Spring Gathering. The Spring Gathering is a day and half mini CON that focuses on Axis & Allies board games and miniatures. Games played include:

I am sad that they wont be having g40 in tournament format :(  Have to do 1942 apparently.

Well, unfortunately, G40 does not lend itself to tournament play.  We are finding out G42 doesn’t as well but is it the best alternative.Â

I will let Questioneer address this when he arrives.  But in short, just no way to have a tournament at a CON.  Not enough time… :oops:

Sorry, couldn’t make it this year…really wanted to defend our 1914 title from Origins.  BTW- the 1914 game rocks with the new tourney rules.  Hopefully Larry will confirm the new slightly adjusted setup for next year also.

As far as G42- Greg I am really warming up to this game as I think others are as they play it.  However like G40- its not any faster unless you give guys the 12-14 hrs (versus 8hrs) to play it in.  If you play 8hrs it might as well be all day, that way players can finish the stinking thing.

Other than that I put G42 on equal par with G40- both are superb versions.
