Clarification needed…. Russia/Berlin captured on same turn

Yeah, the issue is that I would like Ethopia in USSR hands, it is one that is avoidable, like I said, I have seen a USSR marker on it but I wasn’t playing this game so I didn’t see how it came. However, I usually have no problem getting to Somalia, and the northern African territories can be confusing because in my case, UK had Italy on a stalemate front line not pressing so Italy had no reason to assume what I was doing until of course he saw me bring my mech. into Africa.

As for Russia, there’s not much you can do against a good player.  Don’t spread yourself thin and don’t let your forces get divided and conquered.  For the most part buy inf plus art as needed.  In order to maximize Russia’s income (and especially if your opponent declares on G2), think about trying to capture as many +3 NOs (Iraq, Libya, Ethiopia, and there’s 2 more in Africa) as possible.  To achieve this, it’s a good idea to buy some additional mech/tanks on Russia 1 and take NW Persia on R2, Iraq on R3, and so on.

You can certainly do this in a face to face game- play the two separate boards together-
Germany and Japan go at the same time (With Russia in between- have to respect turn order, but Japan may not be at war with Russia)
Then the UK/China/USA goes
Then Italy/ANZAC/France

Then start over.  Of course this only works with 3-4 players so you can have people going at the same time.

Rules are rules anyway, if you want leniancy, you have to ask for it.  This would not be a case where I would be inclined to grant it, mind you.  If you moved everything from Hawaii to Carlines but forgot to move a fighter there leaving it prone to attack, then I could see a case of “yea, okay, so you intended to move it but it got lost in the shuffle” fine, generally I’d allow that change (for non-league, non-tournament games, of course.)

I have another transport question regarding the “defenseless transports” rule and transports in an attack status:
I know that if transports are defending, once any other warships are sunk and there are attackers left, ALL transports are immediately destroyed.
However, if transports are part of an attack, they are not considered defenseless because they can retreat. So if you have some transports with two warships, let’s say cruisers, and the defender gets 2 hits, then the two cruisers are sunk and the transports can then retreat. However, if the defender were to get 3 or more hits, then some of those transports would also be hit and sunk with the remaining transports being able to retreat.  Is this correct?

Specific example: Germany attacks Volgograd with 1 cruiser and 1 transport. Russia scrambles 2 fighters to SZ 115. Both fighters score hits. So in this case, both the German cruiser AND the German transport are sunk, right? It wouldn’t be sink the cruiser and the transport retreats. The 2nd Russian fighter hit would be applied to the transport since the 1st Russian fighter hit sank the cruiser.
That’s the way we played it and I’m pretty sure I’m right. Any defending hits in excess of attacking warships can be applied to attacking transports.

That’s my understanding as well.

If they hold up the gaps, they are defensive in a sense.  I like them to get back from the coast, consolidate and crawl back to Moscow or threaten Japanese gains in the north.  I don’t like a straight run back unless Germany skips sea lion for a pure barbarossa

I would agree - capture of London on G1 is a physical impossibility.  British and French cruisers in SZ112 block the Kriegsmarine from reaching the UK and the paratrooper rule requires additional ground attack.

This is a good idea, especially if you want a speedy game, or cooperative efforts.

In terms of turn order, you just keep per the standard with your adjustment.  IE  Germany, Japan, Italy.  Russia, Uk, Anzac, USA, China France  this sets in stone attack orders ncm’s etc.
