Out of curiosity (not to sound confrontational) what is the goal of this new setup? Is it to rectify an inbalance in the game? Historical accuracy? For fun, to have France have more units? I’d like to know. Thank you!

I feel Germany is over powered which is accurate. But what’s not accurate is how weak the defense of France is. the British had way more forces helping France then just a artillery and a tank. Also the French have no presence in Indochina which is also very in actuate. Also I have no idea why there are 2 blue guys and 1 blue plane in London. Does that explain things hope so thanks for the question!
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato One thing I cant change that I wish I could is that main land France should be spilt in to more than tree territories like, 1914 Axis & Allies. I also feel the Vichy rule and the free French rule should be officially rule now.
-
Thank you for clarifying! Have you playtested this yet?
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Yes I have before it helps the invasion of France a lot more costly. Germany usually makes it out of France with 1 Mech Infantry and 3 Tanks and Losses maybe a plane to the AAA Gun. I would only Have 1 Infantry and 1 Artillery in Indochina, instead of 2 Infantry and 1 Artillery.
-
Thanks for clarifying!
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato No problem!

Since the beginning of the game takes place after Dunkirk, the French infantry in London represent the evacuated French forces. This also explains why there are so few British units by that point, as well as the small amount of French forces remaining in Paris.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Oh I did not know that my setup is before that. Well what is the fighter for and shouldn’t there be units beside Infantry there? Didn’t they evacuate tanks and artillery.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Makes sense now there should be no added units to France if Dunkirk has happened. There should be one UK Infantry added still. I think if that’s the case there should be some French transports in the Atlantic. And a French Artillery or so in London.
-
Very little equipment was evacuated at Dunkirk, it was mostly soldiers.
Not sure about the fighter. It could represent the Free French Air Forces, but it doesn’t seem like they were large enough in this stage of the war to warrant a fighter (they definitely weren’t 1/3 of the RAF defending the British Isles at the time).
The smaller additions make sense.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato I agree. I think there should be 2 French Infantry in London. What do you think about a French Mech Infantry in London Instead of Fighter? Fighters are worth of 10 IPC’s So a Mech is 4 and There where French armor units in Algeria so I think a Tank would be nice because most players fly the plane down to help those three guys out but they will have a tank instead. And that would make up for the Fighter being removed. How does that sound? Any more Ideas. Maybe Just a 2 Infantry In Indochina and a Destroyer in the sea zone? And a airfield and naval base there to help Japan.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Maybe the French Fighter represents the other pilots from the other countries. That fought in the battle of Britain.
-
Those sound like great ideas! I don’t think a tank in Algeria would work though, North Africa had very little heavy equipment, certainly not enough to be represented at this scale. Maybe an artillery? If not the fighter, I don’t think there should be more French units in London. We should definitely have a transport somewhere. Either sea zone 110 or 93.
Yeah, that French fighter could simply represent the vast numbers of non-British pilots flying for the Allies at the time.

@SuperbattleshipYamato said in [Global 1940] 2nd Revised Setup For France:
I’m sorry, I did not understand what you meant by “The smaller additions make sense.” Could you explain?
-
I was referring to adding 1 UK infantry in France (could also be Normandy Bordeaux) and a French transport somewhere, both of which I think are good ideas.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato I think 110 would be good. And 1 French Artillery added to Algeria. Plus 2 French guys and a destroyer in Indochina sounds good 1 Infantry for French army men the other for Vietnam army men.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato I think the UK tank in France and the artillery should be moved to Normandy. I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not what do you think. And the Infantry in Normandy. This makes it possible for a counter attack on round 1 UK and France round 1 with the transport transporting two guys. I think the French fighter should now be UK maybe or just completely removed.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato How do you feel about Units in Indochina?
