1914 contested territory multiple countries combat question

I hope you both love 1940.

When 4 or 5, our daughter would beat my wife and me at Uno too. Funny! I think if you are a board gaming couple, you will be a family that plays too. Much more interesting than tv.

I mean that my printer is unable to edit the map, something that he has been able to do for us on the 1942.2, Anniversary & 1941 maps that he has printed. Which means that we cannot undo all the changes to revert to the OOB 1914 map.

One last shot. The role of the neutrals is graciously being played by an old set of WW11 Russian infantry and artillery that I painted black.

Yes you can. You are supposed to announce to the other players if you are making an amphibious assault (resulting in combat this turn) or an amphibious reinforcement (with NO combat in the contested territory this turn).
What’s more, if you do an amphibious assault, accompanying battleships can conduct shore bombardment and any defending artillery can take shots at your landing units. With an amphibious reinforcement, your battleships do not bombard and the defending artillery do not take shots at your landing units.

Battleships and defending artillery do not fire if you are offloading to a contested territory whether you conduct combat there or not.  They only fire if you offload to a hostile territory.

In essence, this is what the game is all about. Allies have to balance the advantages of mutual defence against the need for large one-nation forces in attack.

I once had an idea for a version where hit points were equivalent to firepower, so:

Battleship 4-4-2 (4 hp)
Cruiser 3-3-3 (3 hp)
Destroyers 2-2-2 (2 hp)

Each ships would have the appropriate number of gun turrets, which can be removed when a hit is taken to indicate damage and reduced firepower.

Two hits slows down a BB, one a destroyer.

No problem! I’m always fascinated by this. Germany actually built 360 of them in total, some of them being very successful (one sinking 3 (outdated) battleships in one hour).
Also, the set-up seems a bit off, France has 2 battleships while Germany only has one. The french had around 25 ‘battleships’ (dreadnoughts and pre-dreadnoughts mainly), while Germany had 48 of these ‘battleships’. Anyway, I’m looking forward to the subwarfare!
