Why is surrender not an option in the original game?

Global 1940 IS the combination of Europe 1940 and Pacific 1940. So, yes, as I previously stated, the first editions and the second editions of the games that make up Axis & Allies 1940 Global have compatible chip types.

I know this because I own both the first editions of Europe 1940 and Pacific 1940 and the second editions of Europe 1940 and Pacific 1940, therefore causing me to own the first and second editions of Axis & Allies Global 1940.

I agree with a post that Mashmallow posted earlier, there is no guarantee that you are going to get that NO for a clear med, you should not even rely on that one. The Italians have so many uses, on the ground, with actual IPC earning territory’s that those planes can be used for, you need to weigh out their impact in the med versus potentially taking Egypt, steam rolling Greece, building an actually strong can-opener force in Russia, and even Protecting Rome.

The last few games that I have played, when I am the Axis, I get my Italian partner to seriously evaluate the Taranto raid force. If it is the max force possible, and the UK is totally on point, I say scrap the scramble, focus on more attainable objectives. As a German player, I sure as hell don’t want to burn the Luftwaffe on an air vs naval clean up battle G2, where I can lose guaranteed safe hits against Russian ground troops once Barbarossa commences. On the other hand, If the UK doesn’t bring the max force down, or they don’t make a move to middle east with SA and India navies / units, and Italy looks like they might have some time to maneuver for a few rounds, then scramble all the way. I have seen games were Italy won the Taranto raid, and from then on became unstoppable in the Med, which in turn leads to Germany being able to achieve their full potential, and results in an Axis victory.

Italy unfortunately has to play the game, or at least start the game, being completely on board to support the Germans in whichever direction they plan to strike. A strong Afrika campaign with Italian air power can lead to Italy generating sufficient IPCs to gain a bit more control over their destiny. A successful Italian campaign in the middle East, or as a can-opener can have the same impact. Italy with zero navy, and zero air force, means they might as well stockpile Rome and prepare to defend Europe, there will be no expeditionary force.

Well….nice video…I would have to say that was indeed very painful to see the USA played so poorly. As soon as I saw x-ports sitting fully loaded offshore of GB w/o protection I knew they were doomed w/ poor leadership. Interesting that ANZAC was able to roam so freely. Also…how was China able to wipe out Japans air force?  :-o Thanks for sharing this. It’s fun to see how others play. I’ve gone up against some folks that won’t make a move w/o their calculators and electronic apps and ridiculously large forces. Then are completely surprised when they lose. I’ve never played with those type of gadgets. I’ve been playing since A&A was introduced and always come up w/ a game plan, buy accordingly and go for it. I tend to try spontaneous battles as opportunity presents itself. (Such as fully loaded x-ports w/o protection  :wink: ) I win some & lose some…but always learn and have some serious fun. I don’t play TripleA, but I imagine one can’t change the initial setup. However, in our table top games, players like to rotate different sides and nations fairly so everyone gets a chance to play something different. To achieve this, I think the Russians should trade their fighter in Moscow for a S. Bomber, the Americans should trade their destroyer in Hawaii for a Battleship, and the UK should trade their Mech Infantry in London for a Tank.

Maybe upgrade the cruiser instead

That should balance the game without the need to bid… What do you think.

Wow, 4 battleships for Germany.  That sounds so cool, but I agree with Young Grasshopper, it sounds like you have left yourself very weak in other areas.  Still, I would love to see Germany with 4 battleships.  Of course, I have always been partial to the Bismarck.

As for attacking England, how much of your Luftwaffe do you still have.  With 6 transports you could hit England with 12 land units against Britains 15 infantry.  If you still have a lot of Luftwaffe to counter the 6 RAF planes, you could probably take England.  However, Captainhook is also right, Russia is probably getting ready to invade you.  Hope you got enough men to repel them.

Well the U.S. didn’t exactly jump to war with Germany lol.

I was being a little off the cuff with the turn 20 crack.  I could live with turn 4 or 6 also.  Either would simulate a 1942 or 1943 U.S. declaration of war.

Just want to give the Japanese some reason to attack Hawaii like FDR did.  If the Japanese waited until January 42 to attack I be the Arizona would still have been sitting there.

I actually am using your sheet as a template, I like the way it was designed.  I’ve changed a couple things though.  And of course I am adding the Europe board spaces.
