You might be able to fly some US fighters to India via sub-Sahara Africa to India. If Japan cannot get India until J5, they may get there in time to save India.

Also, on turn 2 maybe the French fighter can start flying to Moscow from Scotland, than maybe get to India in time to help defend it. Or have it fly on turn 1 to sub-Sahara Africa route.

This is not a winning solution but it might buy some time.

Very late to the party here but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a J4 take down of India in about 200 games played. I can’t see the model which allows it. If you miss the J3 window, which the allies might be able to close with a UK1 Burma stack, you’re talking about a J5 attack, assuming a J1 DOW. J5 all the Japanese coastal troops from Jehol to Kwangsi are in range walking overland. That’ll kill anyone barring ridiculous dice or Axis stuff ups.

I’m not completely sure of the distinction between J3 and J4 other than 2-3 extra inf on India but maybe that small number of inf really does change things. Probably does given that you’re normally losing planes to take India down J3 if it isn’t evacuated.

Just FYI it also ejects any Allied control markers (so if the USA controlled Shan State because you did not have a capital at the time, as soon as you liberate, the USA marker is ejected and it returns to UK control).

This is true of Paris too, so it resets all blue areas back to French ownership upon liberation if they were “liberated” Allied at that time.

Thanks for the input guys.  I my games following this post i have been stacking India itself and using Mechs/air to keep Japan from having a landing site in Shan State.  I figure this will make them take it with a exclusively Sea/air landing (which makes it more expensive) or they will have to wait until turn 6+ when they can safely stack Burma.

No.  The dice may be paid for by either or both economies, but only one roll is made.  For example, the UK player may decide to roll two research dice.  He/she may pay the 10 IPCs from either London or Calcutta, or 7 from London and 3 from Calcutta, or 5 from London and 5 from Calcutta, etc.

EDIT: I just realized that Britain can block you anyways if they’re not at war with you because they can put ships in the same sea zone as yours. So modify this strategy either to include a J2 declaration of war, or forget about the naval base and the three additional transports worth of units.

Warships which are in the same sea-zone as yours and which become hostile on your turn cannot block your movement out of the sea-zone, eg transport can still make a combat move out of a sea-zone with enemy warships present without penalty.

This is wrong. G1 the Germans will take out the UK navy in SZ 106 with subs. You’ll want to be building a couple of destroyers in Quebec B1 to clear out German convoy disruption.
