If only you knew the power of the dark side [of modifying endlessly a game you only rarely have the opportunity to play]… Can’t wait to hear your postgame notes!
@Titus looking at your overlays:
…all based on Tjoek’s “clean” version of the map.
Did I miss anything?
@vodot I think that’s it!
I’ve included a full PDF of various rules I’ve made for my “Deluxe AA50”. Noted below is the section regarding setup changes for this specific set of overlays.
Axis & Allies House Optional Rules - AA50.pdf
Map overlays have been added in the following areas:
1941 Setup: | 1942 Setup: | ||
---|---|---|---|
UK | +8 | UK | +7 |
US | +2 | US | +1 |
RUS | +2 | RUS | +2 |
ITL | +4 | ITL | +4 |
GER | +1 | GER | +1 |
JPN | +4 | JPN | +6 |
Allies Total | +12 | Allies Total | +10 |
Axis Total | +9 | Axis Total | +11 |
Addition of Anhwei (1) split off from Suiyuan (1) and Jehol Recolor (previous upload had Jehol and other Japanese-occupied Chinese TTs colored orange like Tjoek’s source img):
@vodot Sweet! Jehol recolor is awesome!! Scotland looks great too! Thank you for all your hard work.
@vodot would you be able to do a Scotland 0 ipc value variant? Thank you!
@Titus When you cut out the overlay, just cut off the 2 :)
@vodot You are a smarter man than me. XD
@vodot So far in our testing game its been really great with the overlays. The Hokkaido landing zone is a great threat for Japan as they actually need to keep navy near japan instead of running away south. The Island splits on Borneo and East indies make the play there much more dynamic as the uk has more opportunities to recapture/harass Japan. Chinas extra territories work well and my updated rules to add artillery have balanced them out well I think. I would be super stoked if someone else would play with the ruleset as I find it much more fun than the OOB game. The extra money and strategy from the oil rules is super fun.

Really glad it’s working well for you guys!
The Aluetians should present a corresponding (and historical!) problem for the US as well, should they go KGF crazy- a couple transports with light cover can shuck a pretty large Japanese force into Canada by turn 4-5 if the US doesn’t maintain west-coast assets to scare them off…
