@henrik-steffensen look at my 1942 files. I think i did a fine job and you can print it in any size because its vector artwork.

-
Here are the modules from the “G40 Lite” release that can be used with any AA50 map. They have also been posted to the first post in this thread.
- Jehol (1) split off from Manchuria (3)
- “Impassible” text added below Mongolia, Switzerland, Sahara, and Himalaya, which becomes important if playable Neutrals are used.
- Playable IPC-ified Neutrals:
– Sweden (2)
– Turkey (2)
– Saudi Arabia (2)
– Spain (2)
– Afganistan (1)
– Northern South America (2)
– Peruvian Central [South America] (1)
– Argentina Chile (2)
– Angola (1)
– Mozambique (1)

Germany/Poland/East Poland geography improvement - border connections remain the same but territories and cities are much closer to actual locations.
-
@Erocco where can i get that map file ? Also - i love your magnetic board that is in the bg.
-
@Pvt_Griff That is version 5 of Vodot’s map. Link should be on the 2nd post of this thread I believe, but also added it here.

I have long thought it too difficult to assault the Americas, with giant block territories too easily defended. If the Axis reach the mid Pacific or mid Atlantic unopposed, let’s strike some fear into those pond-hopping Yankees with some subdivision!
- Central US moved to left half of map
- Northwestern US (2) split off from [South]western US (10)
- British Columbia (1) split off from Western Canada (0):
- Central US moved to left half of map
- Central Canada (1) split off from Eastern Canada (1):

Japan is difficult to take with one monolithic territory to defend. Hokkaido in the north helps but is an ahistorical site for an invasion; industrialized Kyushu in the south was the historical choice, so representing it on the map should be fun. Furthermore, ANZAC + lots of new UK IPCs in the Pacific (and even a few new US IPCs) means that Japan may need a boost. I think Japan is plenty strong, so I’ll include both options.
Kyushu (2) split off from Japan (reduced to 6):
Kyushu (2) by itself (leaving Japan proper at 8 IPCs):

I am pleased to announce that my TripleA map, “WW2v3 1941 Deluxe,” which is heavily inspired by @vodot 's thoughts and images here, is now live and available for download using the TripleA app!
I am happy to playtest it with anyone who’s interested; I’ll take either side. I cannot be sure the map is balanced until I get some human testers, but so far it seems to me to be about equally difficult to beat the AI using either side.
Note that the description you see as you load the map is broken right now, but the rest of the game still works fine, and you should be able to access detailed game notes by using the Help > Game Notes menu option once the map is loaded.

@Argothair can’t wait to check it out!

Breaking up the US East coast, splitting SEUS (6) off from NEUS (was 12, now 10):
…and refining the West: NWUS to 4 IPC (was 2):
These changes net the US +6 IPCs, intended for a stronger US without NOs, or for a system that cuts the US income in half for a while e.g. 1940 and earlier starts.
Experimenting with new Med SZs:
And finally, some Soviet tweaks to add a few IPC and granularity:
Split Siberia (1) off from SFE
Split Irkutsk (1) off from Yakut
Net change of +2 for Soviets who have not gotten much from my other tweaks and have fallen somewhat behind in the IPC counts.
-
@Argothair Can you post some pics of the map, setup, unit mix?
-
@vodot My pleasure! Thanks for asking.
Unit mix is very similar to the standard ww2v3 game; I didn’t want people to feel the units were unfamiliar. The only changes are that naval units are now cheaper, there is an option to build a minor factory called a ‘barracks’, and there are a few 2-hit bunkers starting on the map at setup. You can’t build any new bunkers.
Here is the map; it’s less exciting than Vodot’s gorgeous artwork, but it should be functional enough for online games. You can see that I’ve added Free France as a playable power (in light blue), and that there are new territories in the Med and the south Pacific. If anyone cares to make a skin or if there’s anything I can do to help with that, I’d love to hear about it.
European setup:
Pacific setup:
And, finally, the reworked national objectives. These are easier to keep track of than you might think, both because the game automatically scores them for you, and because the oil derricks and Flying Tiger drop-off zones are marked with symbols on the map.

man that flying tiger rule slaps! I need to integrate something like that into the G40 lite rules…

Oh Canada! Overlays that add Canada as a playable Major Power with 8 IPCs:

@vodot I have printed and assembled a bunch of your overlays on my map! They look great and I’m excited to play test them. Would you be able to make an overlay for a carved out Scotland territory on the Uk? The fix for Hokkaido is awesome so the US can actually land stuff there. Would be cool to see the same for the UK to give a sealion a possibility in this game.
I made these by printing on Matte Vynil sticker paper and applying it to a 3d printed shape .5mm thick so they should be durable. I blue tacked them straight to the board.
-
@TitusJames Awesome!! And I was just thinking about Scotland… coming up soon.
-
@vodot sweet. I don’t know if it’s possible to incorporate the map overlays I put on and maybe removing the mobilization zone and map art like Tojaks clean variant into a full map file. I think that would be a very versatile map for a better AA50 experience. Thank you for all of your great art work!
-
@Titus I noticed that I had picked up the art, mobi charts, and IPC trackers again. Also, Jehol’s conflicting coloration bugs me :P I will have to strip all that back out at some point. If I can get to it I’ll generate a clean version with no RCs for you.
-
@vodot No rush at all! I’m sure by then I’ll have cooked up some other hair brained scheme to waste my time on this game :D I should spend my time just playing instead! Anyway ill include some thoughts about a game I’m playing with a friend here after the game is over to see how the overlays affect play. I also did come up with a setup modification rule set for the set of overlays I applied which I will send to this thread soon.

If only you knew the power of the dark side [of modifying endlessly a game you only rarely have the opportunity to play]… Can’t wait to hear your postgame notes!
