@666 I didnt move the French; it’s plain and obvious, but so be it. I do understand we did a reroll and I’ll still give you the win if you would like.
Good morning, being that we are in a playoff game, there are only so many, “oops, I made a mistake, can I” that I am going to be cool with. Don’t get me wrong, I make plenty of mistakes but when I do, I simply live with it. They happen, I think if we can follow the rules, as best we can, as written, the better.
Depending on where you want to move that F dd, it could have had an impact on Japan’s turn.
Mentioning, allowing you to change the UK combat move before re-rolling a turn, was perhaps for my benefit, reminding myself that I have been quite fair.
If moving the French units now is important to you, then go ahead, as long as you allow me the same, 2 very late ncm. And perhaps we can agree to no more “oops, I made a mistake” requests going forward?
-
@666 Its not really a ‘oops, I made a mistake’ kind of a thing. For me its about good sportsmanship. Its about the game and the fun of playing. For me, the score, my league standing, winning or loosing are all secondary to that.
I also like keeping the momentum in a game and not having to worry so much about ‘oh, did I forget something’. That just slows things down. I have to check and recheck everything, before I can send you the game file. I dont like having to uncomfortably ask to make an after the fact changes/correction.
You do seem fair minded 6 and you have a ton of experience and you’ve already taught me a few things about the game, so I hope we can continue without too much concern about loosing a playoff game. You’ve already won -
@max334 good morning Max, I hope you are well.
The last thing I want is for you to have a bad experience here, I am pleased that you are playing on this site and in this league, and PLAYOFFS!
I believe that the best A&A players from around the world play here and our Playoffs are like our World Cup or Superbowl, for most of us it is pretty serious, it is for me at least. I’ve never beaten Ghostglider and I want to beat him this year!
When you say I have won, I can tell you that this isn’t the case in the game, as there is a LONG way to go, trust me.
With respect to our Playoffs and the League. Years ago we created the League as a way to record our statistics and to recognize the best players. Games in the league and certainly in the playoffs are more serious, as we record our league champion afterwards! I believe you will find that most, if not all, players playing for the championship would request a tight adherence to the rules.
There is another section/thread to play games called Play Boardgames, stats aren’t collected here and it is a great place to play a more relaxed game or to test strategies etc… I would love to play against you in that thread too, let me know if you would prefer this.
As an FYI, I could personally show you multiple “Oops” i’ve made in the league, where I have moved on from my blunder and tried to learn from my oversights. It happens, but mistakes in the game and war lead to losses. I would love to continue this game with you, our first I believe, but understand if you don’t want to play such a serious game. Again, I am happy for you to move both French pieces, as long as you will grant me the same request and we agree to eliminate these requests going forward.
I hope all this makes sense to you, and I appreciate the time you have taken to share your thoughts. Are you willing to buckle up and play the hardest A&A game of your life? If you do beat me in this game your next opponent will probably be tougher to beat! If not, let’s play in the play boardgames thread, with whatever house rules you want.
Speak soon,
Jim -
@max334, perhaps it would be good to talk about NCM edits for a second.
Typically if this is done immediately after a turn/file being posted and before your opponent starts their turn, you simply update the file, say “sorry’ for the edit and post the change. The “sorry” is just curtesy as you don’t know if your opponent has started planning their turn. PtV is, imo, the most complex of AA games and some turns take a lot of planning. I have rarely if even gotten grief from an opponent when doing this.
If your opponent has moved, or multiple countries moves have taken place then, as you did, a request needs to be made about the NCM edit before proceeding. And it has been my experience that the requester is at the mercy of his/her opponent at this juncture.
Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.

I read your reply, but I was out of town yesterday. Without too much back and forth, let me just say that I am willing to continue our game, if you feel you can deal with my future requests to make, after the fact, changes. You can then just ignore this request, deny it or maybe even allow them. Have you ever played Trulpen? I’ve come to like his style. He just makes game edits if its non-consequential and may or may not even tell you that he made them. At first I was taken aback by this brazen behavior, but I came to learn that he’s a very fair and honorable player.
But, do not be worried, I will not make after the fact edits. I will do as you ask and BUCKLE-UP, not CRY, and learn to live with my mistakes. But again I know my old brain will miss something and I will then ask to make an edit and you, of course can do the same of me. I understand that you dont necessarily like to do that, but if you do I will most likely grant your request and that should not have any bearing on whether you grant mine or not. -

Not in quite a while though, and he never made edit’s like this when we played that I am aware. But it’s all good brother, we will make this work! It’s my old brain (57) versus yours. looking forward to your move. Take care, speak soon.

There is a scramble option for you here, typically if a battle with a scramble option is 90-100% victory, which this is, I usually proceed with the battle and decide not to scramble my opponents aircraft, as I have a 90-100% chance of winning and destroying those units. If in fact my opponent wanted to scramble, and tells me immediately after the turn, we would re-roll that single 66-G3 scramble.tsvg battle. I don’t believe we have agreed to this yet, as this is our first game.
Let me know if you want to scramble here, and if you want to move forward with the above agreement going forward.
Thanks Thomas
-
@666 I agree with you ‘mostly’ and will do the same for you except in unique situations like this. Yes, I will scramble both fighters and I hope you understand the reasoning. Even though I will loose the battle my hope is to take significant Luftwaffe with me. But why did that French and British pilot sacrifice themselfs… it is a question of honor VIVA LA FRANCE

@max334 I get it, I tend to ask more often than not, some players get annoyed with me, it does slow down the game. I’ll get to this tonight.
