So sad. :(
You are president…or P.M.

2 million, we fought Iraq over oil, and used millions and millions of gallons of oil every day to do it.
-
True, the M1 tanks we used in Desert Storm were huge gas consumers, not to mention the jet fuel our jet fighters required. But didn’t Saudi Arabia or/and Iran end up picking up the tab? I’m pretty sure one of those countries called for US foreign aid since Iran or Arabia would be the next likely target for the would-be victorious Iraqis in Kuwait.

Saudi Arabia was threatening to deny oil to us and ally with Iraq if we didnt come to their aid.

I’m not questioning if your above statement is true (certainly this wouldn’t be the first time, right?). What I would like to know if the Arab countries did indeed pay for the Desert Storm operation or at least a part of it. I hope that the whole cost was not passed onto American taxpayers.
-
No, they didn’t pay directly. They offered oil for protection.
-
Do you know how much oil was offered for protection? Would this be enough to cover the 2 million barrels of oil used each day ofthe campaign?
-
Still classified last time I checked.
-
Ahh… I see. Oh well, until that information is released then?
-
Goverment won’t release it, they want to cover their ass. If we found out, The American People, half the Congressmen and Women would be voted out if they supported the war.
-
Ha, very much smoke and mirrors. Well America has always been this way (remember Watergate and the JFK anyone?), so it wouldn’t be surprising if the government kept it that way.
-
at least untill every one involved is dead.
-
Nah, the government still withholds information from World War II even though all the major players are dead.
