I kind of think its crazy to leave the UK with large expensive THREE capital ships that you could easily sink and only lose your subs and maybe a plane or the battleship.  At the very least I can see the value in trying to do the battleship retreat.

If you really wanted to convoy UK into oblivion, I’d plan on Barbarossa G3 or G4… buy the G1 bomber and carrier.  Kill as much fleet as you can, retreat the German battleship if there is only 1 UK ship.  2 subs at Canada, ignore cruiser down south… G2 buy depends on if the battleship is alive but you need a destroyer and bombers and 2 or more subs.  1 sub is for sz 125, the destroyer for the Russians, 1+ sub joins the bombers in killing anything at Gibraltor.

I’d also consider taking S. France on G1 so on G2 you can build a carrier and transport there, which protects the Italian fleet and can help out with ground forces.  Puts more pressure on UK in Africa to push their spending all over, not concentrated.

By G3 you’ve got an idea whether you can get away with convoy sz 109.  Maybe the German carrier heads north after turn 3 if Italy gets things under control quickly.

Or if things don’t go Italy’s way, they can buy subs to hit things off Gibraltor, too.

They’re are three territories in USSR far worth a total of 3 ICP that Japan and take over and still not piss of Mongolia. I have only ever seen a player do this once but Japan and USSR not going to war is usually very useful for Japan as it keeps a front close and 9/10 times, USSR will be the one to invade which turns Mongolia into a strict neutral.

Yeah, I have to admit that I have done that in the case of existing carriers. I say I will move the carrier to a certain spot so planes involved in a battle close by can land. Then the planes get killed (which I figured they would) so I leave my carrier where it is or move it to a “better” place.

Yes, fighters can scramble to defend a transport.

Japan may be able to take any IC that the UK has/builds in Africa/Mideast.  A Japan that does a J4 along with sending its entire fleet into the Indian Ocean to take Egypt is tough to beat along with a successful German G1.

Has anyone tried going hard after Russia with all 3 axis powers? Germany could stall Britain using available subs and air and take the +5 bonus away from Russia. They could do the Romania factory and take Leningrad on turn 3 followed by Stalingrad on turn 4 or 5. Meanwhile, Japan could push into Siberia, building an air base in Manchuria and eliminating the infantry stack on turn 2. They could use their navy to force America into the Pacific while pressing towards Moscow through both Russia and China. By the time America could make landings in Europe, Russia would be penned in and unable to pose a threat, allowing Germany to focus on defending itself with a fairly large economy. If America goes after Japan, Moscow falls earlier.
