Allied paratrooper attack on Berlin

Oh yeah, I bet you can find tons of Axis equipment with Allied origins. I remember reading a book talking about Sea Lion and the Germans put together what very little landing craft they had and it turned out these craft in origin were all US and British that was sold prior to WWI.

I don’t think the situations are comparable.  The Berlin Airlift was intended to bring essential supplies for day-to-day living into a small, well-defined enclave that was entirely under the control of the western Allies and that was being blockaded by the surrounding Russians.  The Crimea is a large peninsula that is undergoing a messy territorial dispute, with fragmented areas of control, and whose problems have little or nothing to do with logistics.

Maybe the website I got the French DOW on was wrong, or just listed the allied ones - since many times they reciprocate a dow even though they don’t need too…

Anyway, Germany was perfectly happy sitting there and doing nothing before Russia decided to stick it’s big fat nose in things, then France and England decided to fight Germany (DOW or not, they did cut off transport and trade with them, so in effect, they did declare on Germany even if it wasn’t on paper)

It’s clear that the side that supported the rebellion against the law abiding, peace loving states of Germany and Austria-Hungary are the aggressors, Germany and Austria-Hungary just defending themselves from unwarranted and unwanted attack. :P

And Belgiums a country?  Sheesh, I thought it was a truck stop on route to Paris!  Next you’ll be telling me Rhode Island is a state in the United States of America and not a gas station with delusions of grandeur!

The use which the Japanese made of their military resources was sometimes odd – or, let’s say, less-than-optimal.  I don’t recall the details, but another example is the fact that Japanese military transport ships shuttling between Japan and the forward areas of operations (like the Solomons and the Dutch East Indies) would sometimes travel completely empty on one leg of the journey because of such factors as lack of coordination or cooperation between the Army and the Navy.  This was an inefficient use of Japan’s transport tonnage. Better planning would have ensured that outward-bound ships were always packed with fresh troops and equipment and that inward-bound ships were always packed with raw materials and other items needing to be brought back to Japan.

If Spain joined the Allies, they would have their own “Italy”

And Rome was conquered by barbarian hordes…  Just because a society is more sophisticated doesn’t mean it can’t be conquered by a less sophisticated one.

No, The back half of russia is much like Alaska, a frozen wasteland. It would take them forever to get troops north of manchuria, and supplying them would be nearly impossible. There werent any natural resource up there so the japanese had no interest in “capturing” (if you can even call it that) north russia. It would be smarter to send troops into china or inda, where the resources were.
