now that I’ve had a chance to play that turn, I think you are right that you were hurt more by that G1. I was thinking in terms of the dice (0 hits in 110 and getting annihilated in 111). But the outcome of that compared to other G1s (is that you have a couple of surviving subs in 110 and we trade BBs. Not significantly worse for the allies.

I thought one of my mistakes in our previous game was that I didn’t try very hard to save the damaged 111 BB. This time I had planned to change that, and then your dice denied me the opportunity and forced me to sacrifice units to recover it. But the German BB is a more valuable piece. Its interesting that if you had one less hit in 111, this becomes a much better turn for you.

I also am generally hesitant on vichy since in the long run doing it gives the allies the income from French territories, so I overlooked the implications of that. Now you have to adjust and either risk Italian air or just not do it in round 1 or at all. So that produces quite the dilemma early in the game.

Strafing with the bs was the plan soaking a hit. Atleast 1 UK fig went down in flames.

One less hit would’ve been great for me. Paradoxical.

Vichy helps Italy a lot from the bat, which is why I like it. It’s at the same time as you say some extra income for the Allies later on. However, might be that Tunisia will be converted to try and prevent the US NO. Usually pretty difficult anyway.

@trulpen yeah. I don’t mean to say vichy is a bad move. Just that there is a trade off and I’ve tended to be more hesitant to go for it because of that. But it is part of your strategy and you have a solid axis strategy so the failure to get normandy with Germany is more consequential.
