There’s a way to turn on notifications for a chat and you can bookmark it which should solve your issue.

I meant old discussions that are no longer being contributed to. This is just as a way of bookmarking discussions to read from time to time.

Yes, of course there is.
In every topic you are able to bookmark every posting you want. So you can easily mark the discussions that you want.
How to do that?
- Click the three points at the right bottom side of the respective posting.
- Click “Bookmark” (marked yellow in the following image):
To access your collection of bookmarks go to your profile page, klick the blue circle containing the three points and select “Bookmarks”.
Or create a browser bookmark like this:
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/user/<your username>/bookmarks
for quicker access. -
