@elrood one sec! forgot an edit!
Ok here is the deal. I attacked with both my Longe Range Bombers. one of which had 5 move left after the attack, the other got only 2 move left.
I sacrificed one of them over a fighter, since the 2 move could not make it to safety. But the engine always picks the 5 move Bomber over the other. But as far as I understand it, I can choose which unit I take out, and ofc I would choose the one with not much move left. And I think the engine always handled it like this, at least when playing G40.
So I edited the bomber away from Formosa and put it to the Anhwei, since the 5 Move Bomber could have reached it. I hope that is ok

We always think of Honour and what we can do for our Emperor.
@witt And I am still wondering if it was an elaborate trap set up by the Allies to get rid of my precious ships!! :-O But for sure it felt good to narrow the allied path and having to account for fewer contingencies in future turns.
