This is a disturbing trend of bad luck dice for CP, with the Commies shooting blanks, not a single hit.

When I read “this is a disturbing trend…” in the preview on my phone, I thought you were referring to the life expectancy graph i posted earlier and thought: “what the heck…??” :-D
-
@elrood  Unfortunately, the COVID and drug overdose pandemics are already reversing the trend in your graph.

Not feeling too disturbed FM! Happy wedding anniversary. My 34th is in a couple of weeks.

@private-panic That’s great.
-
@fmerwinrommel Ah I see… Still I am glad to live now and not 100 years go, since there are easy remedies for those issues now. Get vaccinated and do not take drugs! ;-)
-
@elrood Not to get into a controversial topic, but in August, the CDC belatedly admitted that the vaccines don’t prevent infection or transmission, and the vaccinated acquire and transmit as easily and as often as unvaccinated. And their effectiveness is short-lived. It is unfortunate that this topic has been politicized by both sides, rather than just presenting all the facts and let people decide for themselves. Sorry, I like having the forum free from politics.
-
@fmerwinrommel is not my fault that US people are divided on ALL topics and politicizes them all.
Not sure what CDC said lately (could you please give me a reference), but:
Unlike US politics which only know two states: yes and no, science is about probabilities.
Vaccines decrease the chance of transmission on both sides and also decrease the chance to have a stronger reaction to the virus. -
@fmerwinrommel hmm i checked cdc.gov and read pretty much the opposite of what you said, you have another source?
-
Not sure this conversation will end well but hopefully everyone can stay respectful. The only thing I’ll add is everyone should read the facts around vaccines from the CDC or another credible scientific source: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/effectiveness/index.html
-
@elrood Sorry, didn’t mean to imply anything against you. Here’s one link. https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/05/health/us-coronavirus-thursday/index.html
-
I don’t want to tie up this post with non-A&A discussion. Elrood, I will send more links in chat. Always a respectful conversation, we can agree to disagree.
-
@fmerwinrommel thanks! Ok, that is in line with the information I am having - vaccinated infected can ofc transmit the virus! No argument there!
Studies show that the virus load of vaccinated is lower than that of unvaccinated, so it is not as easily transmitted im that case, as a new host needs a threshold number of viruses to break the immunsystems first line of defense.
Is really boils down to a game of math. Every measure decreases the probability.
E.g. if getting vaccinated lowers your infectiousness to 50% and wearing a mask lowers it by 50% as well, then using both brings ot fown to 25% - give or take (I made up these mumbers, do not quote me on them)And going direcrly for cdc.gov as a source is a good advice from redrum. When I checked cnn vs. cdc I already saw some minor differences in emphasis on specific points Every news outlet will alter such content, not because of ulterior motive but because that’s how language works - every repetition will be slightly different and painted by the repetitors background.

Comparing game 3 with game 2, Redrum abandoned Belg, sending troops to Norm, Pic & Paris and built 2 transports in EngCha; while Witt reinforced Belg and didn’t build any transports in EngCha. Of course, Redrum had benefit of hindsight and had planned the G move in game 2. Having 1 Canadian fleet survive means 2 more transports can reach France next turn. But I think the UK action and France’s ignoring the provinces to build max in Paris, will be the main reasons G will not steamroll Paris in this game. In our first game, UK provided substantial troop support to Paris in the critical early phase, allowing France to build massive defenses that outstripped G’s offense. G’s all out offense in game 2, and perhaps in this game, would have kept the pressure on Paris. Hopefully, the Mex gambit keeps the USA at bay.

@fmerwinrommel I couldn’t hold the Channel, as Redrum won better off Scapa Flow. I lost both Subs, making an attavk on the Channel impossible . Holding the Channel, as the Allies , means Britain can reinforce Normandy, then Paris. Getting a great G1 meant Paris faking was easier . I lost too many sea battles. Ron has been lucky as Germany and now as Britain .
