Feels like a bit of waste to attack 1 inf with a ton of air, but I’m aiming at a J2DOW so it has no other use at the moment.
Noticed I had slipped in the previous turn and not moved over 1 inf, 1 tank to Korea with the tr from z20. This is something I always do (unless something exceptional appears in the north). Since this is a tutor game mainly for the learning experience, I trust it’s ok.
Annexed FIC, losing 8 IPC of income, but I really don’t like UK-Pac to get it since it’s pro-axis now. The loss of income can then be said to be 6 IPC. Being able to build a mIC there makes the loss more of an investment, which I think is well worth it.
Building 3 inf in Shantung, 1 inf, 1 marine in Tokyo and 1 tr, 1 ac in z6.
The marine makes cr and bs better and this particular marine will have an important task of grabbing Guam. It’s important to get the mobilization of fleet going and in the early rounds carriers are the absolute best for Japan (not underestimating the need of des and sub). The reason is being able to utilize all that abundant air-force.
Normally a combo of ac + 2 air costs 36-38 IPC, but for Japan it will only cost 16 IPC until about 10 carriers have been reached.
Having a viable fleet to be able to contest the Pacific is key to Japans success. Especially trying to keep control of the DEI is of outmost importance, but also pressuring the USN and not allowing it to have its way too easily is necessary.
Doing a bit of a gamble in Kweichow, taunting the chinese to attack. If an eventual attack goes according to probability (55 %, but -6 TUV), it’s a good outcome for Japan, getting rid of a lot of pesky chinese troops and being able to control Yunnan more readily.
If China dare not attack, then another point of the maneuver is to pressure the chinese stack to abandon Szechwan, also with the benifit of getting solid control of Yunnan.
I considered boosting my stack with the mech and beating back the guerilla with air only. I choose not to, partly because of the 1/6 probability of losing air and partly because I want to reserve the mech for an attack on Kwangtung.
