Thank you for clarifying.
Global 1940 Basic Expansion
-
Concerning the use of Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion, we recommend, that players first play a few games with the Global 1940 Basic Expansion.
In this way, the rules and game mechanisms become easier to comprehend.
-
We suggest that the rule concerning Strategic Rail Movement should be implemented in the Global 1940 Basic Expansion.
We have play tested the Global 1940 Basic Expansion during our latest games, and players ask for the SRM to be included.
This will most likely be part of the updated version of the Global 1940 Basic Expansion.

@barnee
Is it possible - (if/when) - to include the Strategic Rail Movement Capacity rule in Global 1940 Basic Expansion for TripleA? -
@the-captain Actually I just checked and i left it active. I thought it was turned off and had an option for it, but I guess not lol So yea it’s good to go.
I wonder if I should make a MapOption so people can turn it off ? Idk, it’s pretty easy to ignore if you don’t wanna use it. Besides, like the new guys say, it Rocks

Hi! I just have a question:
What happens with the technology Increased Factory Production when the Heavy Industry rules is used? Thank you!
-
We’ll include the Strategic Rail Movement Capacity in the Basic Expansion.
I’ll post the updated Global 1940 Basic Expansion within the next few weeks.
-
The Rules Clarification in the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion thread, also concerns parts of the Global 1940 Basic Expansion.
-
Should all these rules be used or is it possible to use just one part of them? Thank you!
-
The Global 1940 Basic Expansion will be revised & updated in 2022, with the changes that are mentioned in this thread as well as in the Rules Clarification.
-
The revised Global 1940 Basic Expansion will include a few more rules & units than originally intended.
This is due to the requests made by new players.
The revised edition is expected to be available in Early 2022.

Hello @The-Captain I am finally able to try out this Basic Expansion! It’s been around half a year since I have played Axis and Allies and I cant wait to play again. Anyways, I got these printed as well as the decal sheets in the Regular Expansion. Going to try and measure the individual roundel decals and glue them on plastic pieces whenever I can. Only problem is storage I think because we use a pool table and A&A 1940 fits most of it with the exception of being able to have the little supply boxes around the map.
We got a larger container to hold my extra pieces I got from HBG (yes, I went on some sort of frenzy and bought 70 dollars worth of stuff because they didn’t remove shipping from the order.) I got a research development chart from HBG so maybe I can implement some of the features from there with the Basic Expansion.
If I don’t have enough space for everything on the full board, is it possible to only the ones specific to a certain theatre and not be unbalanced? We did this a few times because the full game takes 2 days for an entire turn and it takes 1 day for 1 turn on just Europe or Pacific (sometimes if we go quick we can get by with two turns)
I hope you see this message, thanks.

“Turn” means round, right (all nations going once). If it’s one nation per day, it is really slow.
So much possible modifications and house rules, and not enough time to play!
-
All I can say, is that you must try your way forward.
After a few games you’ll know if it is unbalanced.
We use only the Basic Expansion for training with new players.
After 4-5 games all new players use the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion - step by step - adding one section at a time.
Try it - and see what works for you.
-
@superbattleshipyamato I don’t know why but I keep calling “rounds” as “turns”
-
Thank you for clarifying! That sounds about right.
-
The rulebook has been updated 4th April 2022.
-
On 31st July 2022 it is one year ago, since the Global 1940 Basic Expansion was released.
At the request of multiple new players, a few rules will be exchanged.
More information will follow.

Great!

Clarification of Turn and Round for use with:
- Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion
- Axis & Allies Global 1940 Basic Expansion
- Axis & Allies Global 1943 ExpansionIn the Rulebooks for all these Expansions (see The Captain’s Global 1940 House Rules Collection for all Global 1940 Expansions) the terms Turn and Round are used throughout the rulebooks.
Turn:
This is the definition when a Nation has the option to begin it’s Action Sequence.Example:
On Germany’s Turn, Germany starts with repairing the Battleship unit in sz 112 - and purchases 10 Infantry units…In other words: a Turn consists of several Actions that each Nation can initiate. Some of these Actions are:
- Repair & Purchase units
- Combat Movement
- Combat
… etc.
Round:
When all Nations have had their Turn - one Round of Play has been completed.Example:
Round Early 1940 (or Round 1) is completed when France has had it’s turn.Important:
A Global 1940 game with the use of Global 1940 Basic Expansion consists of 10 Turns - since there are 10 Nations/Economies represented.A Global 1940 game with the use of Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion consists of 9 Turns since there are 9 Nations/Economies represented (United Kingdom & India are one Economy).
A Global 1940 game with the use of Axis & Allies Global 1943 Expansion consists of 7 Turns since there are 7 Nations/Economies represented (United Kingdom, India & ANZAC are one Economy)
There is no limit concerning the number of Rounds over which each game extends - for as long as the Winning Conditions has not yet been fulfilled.
