Hey, I’m new to the game and making my way through the game-book.
I have a question for the 1942 second edition about the strategic bombing raids.
Defending fighters can intercept enemie bombers/fighters. Do they have to be in the same land-zone or can they fly in from other lands? If they do ,is it limited how for they can fly to help defend the Industrial Complex? Is says defending air units must return to their original territory. But also any number of defending fighters based in a territory that is about to be attacked can participate. I’m confused about this rule. Can you help? thanks.

From the rulebook, page 14:
"Any number of defending fighters based in a territory that is about to be strategically bombed can be committed to participate in the defense of the industrial complex as interceptors, whether or not there are attacking fighter escorts. "
What has been bolded by me gives the answer to your questions. When defending air units must return to their ‘original territory’ that is the ‘territory that is about to be strategically bombed’, too, if possible.

So defending fighters in Brasil can participate in the defence, but no fighters from Central Amerika?
If the defending site loses, those remaining fighters can move one space, so to for example to friendly Venezuela?

I don’t understand this example. Which territory is about to be strategically bombed in your example?

@jochen80 There is no Industrial Complex in Brazil - or has any power built one there in your game?
Strategic Bombing is an attack on an Industrial Complex.
Also Venezuela is neutral. No on can start or land or do anything in neutral territories in this edition.

In that case only defending fighters from Brazil can intercept. They have to land in Brazil. In case Brazil has been captured their only chance to land would be on a friendly carrier in SZ 22.

Still have doubt about this line:
Escort fighters can originate from any territory of sea zone, range permitting.
What range permitting. ? Fighers can move 4. May the defending site move their fighters from the Baltic States to France?
@jochen80 An escort fighter is an attacking fighter, escorting the bomber(s). So for the attacking player this is just a combat move. That is totally independent from the defending intercepting fighter, that we discussed before.
Rulebook says: “Escort fighters (those accompanying the attacking bombers) can escort and protect the bombers, and they can originate from any territory or sea zone, range permitting.”
