Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion

    @The-Captain

    Hi Captain

Was working on a triplea upgrade and I’m certain I’ve asked you this. Germany gets Italy Rail when it takes it over ?

I was just going through the rules but don’t see it. I checked the clarifications as well and it wasn’t there.

I’m almost certain they do though. I’m sure I asked you that before but I’m not gonna struggle through the search looking :)

They get the Italy rail for Europe after they take Italy over ?

They’ve been getting Italy Rail for a couple years in triplea anyway. What happened was, the USA took Rome after the takeover and that dusted the Italian Rail.

I was trying to figure out how to fix it and then now … I’m not as certain as I was :)

    Thanks

  • @barnee

Here we go. it is hidden in section 3. Strategic Rail Movement

    Strategic Rail Movement Capacity:

Germany can use Italy’s SRM in Europe after the Take Over.

    Important:
Europe includes 3 Soviet Original Territories:

    • Baltic States
    • Eastern Poland
    • Bessarabia

    Hi Captain

Engineer question. Just read through the rules again and they can only remove LMs in CM when crossing that specific minefield ? Mines defending a different border than where they cross they can’t ?

And they aren’t allowed to remove any in NCM ?

    Thanks

  • @barnee

True - a Combat Engineer unit can only remove an enemy Mine during Combat Movement - and only an enemy Mine that defends the line which the Combat Engineer unit crosses.
This game mechanism is the same as Mines that can only defend the line on which they are dug in to defend.

During Non-Combat Movement a Combat Engineer unit can transport up to 3 Mines - and place them at a border - even in a newly captured territory.

  • @The-Captain
Are you using D6 for the G40HRE or other dice?

  • @shadowhawk

The G40 HRE game is the same as the OOB G40 game - there are no changes to the basic game or game mechanisms.

    Exception:
Some basic units have reduced costs, and some islands and territories in the Pacific Ocean have increased IPC values and unit placements.

So yes - the dice are the same as the OOB G40: D6

Yea I think having UK Pacific merged to UK with a limited place in the Pacific Theatre, speeds it up quite a bit.

  • @shadowhawk

yea here’s The Captains rulebook if you wanna check it out https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SRDOsOwlO4Aa13cULwkWrorrXEmCmiN-/view
You can play it on triplea if you wanna give it a try and even if you don’t, it’s fun to read through all the new cool stuff :)

I read it that is why i asked about the dice.
having tanks attack on a 5 on a D6 changes the game a lot. Basically every +1 on a D6 is way more powerfull. That is why a lot of combat systems uses D10 or D12 gives more flexibility to make units slightly more powerfull.
Since he had a lot of those units, infantry defending on a 4, waffen SS was good but not that good. Marines and paras attacking on a 3, they where well trained not superhuman.
So i asked if he maby also went to a D12 system, there these upgrades could be made so the units are 50% more powerfull iso making them 100% more powerfull or even 200%

    Hi @shadowhawk

Concerning your comments on the use of D6 for use with the G40 HRE:

    1. No Tank or Panzer units attack at “5”
    2. German Waffen-SS Panzer units attack at “4” and defend at “5”
    3. German Waffen-SS units defend at “4” - except Waffen-SS Panzer (“5”)

All specialized units (Historical units) that are purchasable by each Nation, are limited in numbers.

    Example:
Germany can purchase a maximum of 4 Waffen-SS Panzer units.
These Waffen-SS Panzer units cannot enter game until Late 1942 (round 6).
Units lost in combat can be reproduced.

The limitations to each of the specialized units are due to a combination of their Historical Timeline & Historical Production Numbers - as well as Balance of Play.

With more than 1.250 Global 1940 games completed with the G40 HRE rules, our game experience shows that no single unit (Marines, Paratrooper, Landing Craft etc.) or unit combination (Waffen-SS Army, Tank Army etc.) or rule (Soviet Red Army Conscription, Strategic Rail Movement Capacity, UK National Economy etc.) can unbalance the G40 HRE game.

The only factor that can decide the outcome of the G40 HRE game - are the decisions that are made by each Axis & Allies player.

  • Happy Wednesday to all. Have a couple of land mine questions. First, is there a maximum number of land mines which can be placed along a border? For some reason, I thought it was 10 but I don’t see it in the rulebook so I am beginning to think that is incorrect. Second, can a land mine (not carried by an Engineer) be moved during Non-Combat Movement and then dug in during the Mobilization Phase in the same turn? Again, I thought that was not the case but am now thinking I may have been incorrect about that as well.

  • 2024 '23 '22 '21

    @Trout

There is no limit to how many Mines a player can place on a line/border.

A Mine can be transported in the Non-Combat Movement phase - and armed (dug in) at the end of the Non-Combat Movement phase.

    Important:
Once a Mine is dug in (armed) - it cannot be moved again. It must stay on that line/border until it detonates.

    Remember:
Any player who places Mines at any line/border should consider if any units from that player’s alliance have to move through this Minefield - since the Mines also “defend against” troops from that alliance.

The rules concerning the Heavy Aircraft Carrier unit has been added to this thread.

See pg. 1 - look for attached rule No. 17. G40 Heavy Aircraft Carrier unit.

  • @The-Captain Thanks for the clarification. Opens up some new possible Courses of Action for the Allies in India and the Soviet Union which I was not formerly aware of :)

The Air Fleet Commander rules have been clarified & updated with the following:

“An Air Fleet can only attack from or defend in a territory or an island.”

    Hello sir,

can only airfields that have existed since the start of the game can be upgraded, or can new placed Airfields be upgraded as well?
