This rule is part of the Axis & Allies Global 1940 2E, House Rules Expansion.

The Escort unit is a sea unit, that has multiple tasks. The primary task is to protect Transports as part of a Convoy.

But other than that I haven’t seen any errors so great work! They’re especially good for newbies since it has the NOs and Political situations

I don’t have time to test your house rule, but it sure looks interesting. I might use it sometime.

Here is a savegame using the concept in tripleA…

To achieve the desired turn order position, I fast forwarded the first round to Italy, and then returned each Nation to its normal starting income via the edit mode.

This means that the USA will be closer to their DoW as well, by a round, which I think might be interesting as well.

Anyway, just thought I’d toss it out there in case anyone wants to get a feel for how this might look in practice.

It would be fun to include the Chinese Communists as a special guerrilla power that would give the Soviet player a nice break from the drudgery of mounting a possibly futile defense of Moscow. I have a few thoughts:

-In guerrilla fashion, the Chinese Communists may place units in Japanese territories, if they are occupied they act as blockers for Japan’s next turn and if empty they change ownership.

-During combat, all surviving guerrilla units “hide” after the first round and the battle ends. In essence this borrows from 1914’s contested territory concept, and the presence of guerrillas sabotaging production can be simulated with Japan collecting no income from the territory.

-Communist forces may never move into a territory occupied by any Allied unit.

-In order to generate some income, the communists should get a token NO for Soviet support, maybe 2 IPC as long as any Russian territory is linked to any Chinese (Nationalist or Communist) territory.

Remember too that the autumn rains bogged German tanks down in the mud, while the Russian tanks had wider tracks which coped much better with this.

Germany is hardly likely to blitz through Russia; perhaps tanks simply can’t move in winter (frozen fuel).

i think more of the autumn/spring rains that hurt the tanks and the winters that hurt the infantry.  certainly the fuel freezing was a winter thing, but the tanks could move at least when started, as compared to autumn when no one moved anywhere on the german side…
