    On my map the JN can’t reach z35, but I think we came to the conclusion that the old rules are implemented so there might be a passage there. In that case US wanted to put a blocker in z46 (atleast that’s the sz in my map).

    Actually, Axis showed no mercy first, namely in z11, which of course was a shot for the win. Not attacking Hawaii would have meant a loss of the game, so taking the opportunity, especially after the previous situation (an eye for an eye), was a no-brainer.

    Anyhow, this is particularly weird not to allow, since I’m at a faulty map. Yet I agree, the responsibility to keep track of the irregularities is my own. Have to remember the old scramble-rules as well.

    Feel free to go ahead and slaughter the USN. Again. With the risk of being rather costly and a phyrric victory. At the same time US seems to have managed some kind of fleet superiority already, so it sure is tricky.

    The genesis of the current state of affairs was the Allies attacks on unsuspecting German and Japanese transports. In both cases, the transports could have been easily defended with fighters. It was my oversight that led to their demise, and so I did not make a plea for reconsideration. However, these cases also made clear that I could not expect warnings about obvious mistakes and, thus, was under no imperative to do the same.

    I agree that a Japanese attack on the Ally fleet in SZ 35 will be costly. But it might also make the game interesting again. I was resigned to concede at the end of the round before this possibility. I am considering what to do, what are the possible outcomes, and whether one of the choices will afford some chance of victory.

    Not sure what situations you’re refering to (please specify, if you want), but again, 6-18 IPC TUV-swing is not really comparable to 100-250 IPC TUV-swing. Objectively speaking.

    I usually give my opponents heads-up if I see weird moves or positioning or if a unit hasn’t moved. But again, it also depends on the opponent. I find it somewhat strange that I didn’t do that with you then, if I didn’t, but it might have to do with my present life-situation which is kind of stressed and difficult.

    In any case, I think we started off our game with a rather liberal approach, and then after the midgame it has gotten very unforgiving on both sides. Zero tolerance is the present maxime. I’m doing my best to adjust. ;)

    Also, I’m positive that if you’d said something like “oh, shit, I forgot that carriers can’t scramble to protect only transports”, I would’ve allowed you to support it/them with a des or such in order to protect them. Easily done afterwards. Don’t know the specific situation(s) though. Think I should’ve asked if it looked weird.

    The Russians attacked the undefended German transport in SZ 118 Round 8 from Novgorod. Costly oversight on my part. If I had to do it over again, the German transport would have moved to SZ 116, where it could have transported land troops to Norway, was out of range of the Russian air force, and could have been protected from the US bomber in the UK by a scrambled fighter from WG. My recollection is that an unprotected Japanese transport was lost unnecessarily some rounds afterward due to another oversight.
